Ranks

The ranks of Aspirant, Associate, Master, Fida’i, and Rafiq require Assamite Coordinator Notification. Anything above those ranks require Assamite Coordinator Approval. Advancement in rank also requires a successful challenge of a Master for those below that rank. A challenge may take any form and must be completed before advancement is allowed. For those of Master rank, they must challenge one directly above them instead and get approval from the Council of Scrolls.

Aspirant

A rank for the Viziers and Sorcerers of the clan. Aspirants are newly embraced or converted members of the Assamite clan. This is the first step all Assamites among the Sorcerers and Viziers must take in the structure of the clan.

Associate

Associates is a rank for the Viziers and Warriors. They have proven themselves capable of standing on their own and knowing the ways of the clan. To rise in the ranks of an Associate requires Sorcerers to have completely mastered Two Dur-An-Ki paths to advanced and possess eight rituals. Viziers who wish to become Associates must pass an exam by his Vizier Elders and they must possess four levels of ability in their chosen area of study with a specialty as well. They should also have two other abilities associated with his study at level 3.

Master

Master is a rank for the Sorcerer and Viziers of the loyalists. These Assamites have mastered their field of study and even begun to instruct lesser educated members of their clan. To become a master, the Assamite must go before his peers among the Masters and petition for approval to join them. The masters will then test the student to see if he is worthy of the position. Should he pass their test he will be appointed the rank of master.

Distinguished Master

A rank of renown among the Viziers and Sorcerers. Distinguished Masters are those among the Masters who have risen above their peers. Those go beyond simple specialization in a particular field, it is complete mastery. Sorcerers who desire to become Distinguished Masters must have mastered at least five paths of Dur-An-Ki to the advanced level and have twenty rituals. Viziers who desire to become Distinguished masters must have complete mastery of their ability to a level of five and a specialty. In addition to this Viziers should have at least five related abilities mastered to level five as well in association with their primary area of study. Once this is accomplished, the Vizier must also pass an approved test given to them by the Distinguished masters and petition the Council of Scrolls.

Full Master

The rank of Full Master exists for the Sorcerers and Viziers. These are the top members of the loyalists for their castes. They are the best of the best and are often Elders soon looking to join the ranks of the Silsila. To be risen to the level of Full Master requires the approval of the Full Masters in agreement. The Full Masters assign the test and tasks chosen to those seeking to join their ranks. Only once the Council of Scrolls are satisfied with the applicant’s results will they decide if they rise to the rank of Full Master.

Emeritus

This position within the Viziers and Sorcerers is a rank of honor. Among the loyalists, it is used to distinguish Full Masters who have gone to torpor and yet to have risen. It is the only way one may be referred to as Emeritus.

Fida’i

This rank among the warriors is the beginning step for all those in the clan. These are newly embraced warriors brought into the fold of Alamut. The isa’I are expected to train and learn. They are often assigned a Rafiq to oversee their training and accompany them at all times outside of Alamut.

Rafiq

A Rafiq is a warrior rank for those who have proven themselves more than capable of supporting themselves. These are your rank and file warriors of the loyalists. To rise up and become a Rafiq requires the approval of three or more Rafiq.

Da’i

This warrior rank is something of a subdivision of the Rafiq. Those among the loyalists who pride themselves as the holy warriors of Haqim and the Path of Blood are known as Da’i. To become a Da’i a Rafiq must walk the Path of Blood and be accepted by the Da’i as a whole for membership.

Ace

This warrior rank is granted to any Rafiq who kills five or more vampires on his own. These are the warrior elite among the warriors. While many of the Aces are also members of the Web of Knives, to be an Ace does mean one must also be a member of the web of knives. Aces are often viewed as actuals among the Web of Knives who see themselves as a

league above all other Assamites.

Silsila

The Silsila are the chosen Elders of clan Assamite who serve the Du’at directly. To be appointed to the rank of Silsila is a matter of great honor. The Silsila are the masters of the Path of Blood and Laws of Haqim. They are Haqim’s avenging angels. Only the Du’at may appoint an Assamite to the rank of Silsila.

The Council of Scrolls

Although Ur-Shulgi had originally disbanded the Council of Scrolls and many of their members had fled during the Schism, the return of Haqim has led to many councilors returning to Alamut. The Council of Scrolls fulfills their role of being masters of various scholarly pursuits and approves higher ranks of Viziers and Sorcerers. They also approve non-Sorcerers to learn Dur-an-Ki, but to petition this without presenting a good reason to why it is needed and not having Full Masters vouch for the individual would be seen as a great insult.

The Du’at

The Du’at are the chosen leaders of the castes appointed by Haqim himself. There is only ever one in each of the available positions to the castes. These Elders are handpicked by Ur-Shulgi to lead the clan and be Haqim’s right hand. The current Caliph, leader of the warriors is Thetmes. The current Amr, leader of the Sorcerers is Amaravati, Childe of Al-Ashrad. The current position of The Vizier had remained unappointed since the start of the Schism.

However, recently Nakurtum, Childe of Haqim, has awoken from Torpor and claims this position.

Members of the Du’at may be challenged for their position and replaced if they defeat the current seat holder. All such challenges are approved by Haqim himself. Members of the Du’at are Assamite Coordinator NPC only.

The Eldest

Before Ur-Shulgi the last Eldest was Jamal. The eldest by tradition is the oldest Child of Haqim active to lead the entire clan. The Eldest is the supreme master of Alamut and the clan. All are expected to follow his orders without questions. The Eldest may be challenged for leadership of the clan by one of the Du’at. This however irrelevant as Ur-Shulgi himself discarded the position of Eldest. Ur-Shulgi claimed the position was no longer needed as Haqim had returned and only he is the true master of Alamut. As a result, there is no Eldest of Alamut. For the true Eldest has returned, Haqim.

Haqim:

The founder of Clan Assamite, Haqim is the supreme leader of the clan. There are none greater or above him. All loyalists seek to become one with him and would gladly die for him. Some claim that Haqim is of the second generation having embraced himself of the Kings Blood and drank the soul of the Queen of Enoch. For his part Haqim has not been seen by the clan since the times of the Roman Empire. The return of his Childe and herald Ur-Shulgi meant he

was soon to awaken and has chosen the Childe as voice to act his will to the clan. Since Haqim’s return to Alamut few have seen or spoken with the former Herald.

To:

Ranks

The ranks of Aspirant, Associate, Fida’i, and Rafiq (Ranks 1 and 2) are ST Approval. The rank of Master (Rank 3) requires Assamite Coordinator Notification. Anything above those ranks requires Assamite Coordinator Approval. For those attempting to gain rank above Master, they must challenge one directly above them and get approval from their caste leader among the Du’at. The Du’at may make exceptions to the requirements of rank and approve promotions at their discretion. There have been stories of the Caliph promoting Rafiq to the higher ranks after impressing him with a successful duel against a higher ranking Rafiq.

Rank 1 Warriors: Fida’i (Storyteller Approval)

Fida’i or “devotee”  is the beginning step for all Warriors of the clan. These are newly embraced warriors brought into the fold of Alamut. The Fida’i  are expected to train and learn. They are often assigned a Rafiq to oversee their training and accompany them at all times outside of Alamut.

Rank 2 Warriors: Rafiq (Storyteller Approval)

A Rafiq or “comrade” is a Warrior who has proven themselves more than capable of supporting themselves. The majority of Warriors hold this rank. These are your rank and file soldiers of Alamut. To rise up and become a Rafiq requires the approval of three or more Rafiq. Rafiq is also a term used in general for Warriors and the army of Alamut.

Rank 1 Viziers and Sorcerers: Aspirant (Storyteller Approval)

A rank for the Viziers and Sorcerers of the clan. Aspirants are newly embraced or converted members of the Assamite clan. This is the first step all Assamites among the Sorcerers and Viziers must take in the structure of the clan.

Rank 2 Viziers and Sorcerers: Associate (Storyteller Approval)

Associates are Viziers and Sorcerers who have proven themselves capable of standing on their own and know the ways of the clan. To rise in the ranks to an Associate requires Sorcerers to have completely mastered Two Dur-An-Ki paths to Advanced and possess eight rituals. Viziers who wish to become Associates must pass an exam by his Vizier Elders and they must possess four levels of ability in their chosen area of study with a specialty as well. They should also have two other abilities associated with his study at level 3.

Rank 3: Master (Coordinator Notify)

The Master rank is where all castes converge.

Warriors: These Warriors have proven themselves and stand out amongst the Rafiq. They are expected to lead missions and take the lead if the higher ranking Rafiq falls in battle. This is also the rank where Rafiq often get assassination contracts. To reach this rank, the Rafiq must be promoted by a Master or higher. The requirements deviate from Warrior to Warrior, but it isn’t unheard of for a Rafiq to claim this rank after proving themself mightier than a higher ranking Warrior. Rafiq of the same rank on a mission are known to duel to prove who is more powerful and has more authority so that all are aware of the pecking order on a given mission.
Viziers/Sorcerers: These Assamites have mastered their field of study and have even begun to instruct lesser educated members of their clan. To become a master, the Assamite must go before his peers among the Masters and petition for approval to join them. The masters will then test the student to see if he is worthy of the position. Should he pass their test he will be appointed the rank of master.

Rank 4: Distinguished Master (Coordinator Approval)

A rank of great renown among the Assamites. Distinguished Masters are those among the Masters who have risen above their peers and direct the movements of the entire clan.

Warriors: Rafiq of this rank are artists of blood and death on the battlefield. They tend to not only lead individual missions, but are often put in charge of entire campaigns. Distinguished Masters among the Warriors are expected to train the Rafiq under them and give them tasks to accomplish the clan’s goals. For a Master to gain this rank, they must challenge a Rafiq of higher rank. Just like the previous rank, the requirements may vary, but in the end the Caliph must approve of the promotion.
Viziers: To be a Distinguished Master among the Viziers means that they must have gone beyond a simple specialization in a particular field. Viziers who desire to become Distinguished Masters must have complete Mastery of their Ability to a level of five and a specialty. In addition to this Viziers should have at least five related abilities mastered to level five as well in association with their primary area of study. Like the Rafiq, the Vizier must challenge a higher ranking Vizier to get this rank and the promotion must be approved by the Vizier of the Du’at.
Sorcerers: A Distinguished Master Sorcerer must have incredible arcane power at their beck and call and respect among their peers. Sorcerers of this rank should be expected to be called by the Caliph to aid the Rafiq in battle. Magi who desire to become Distinguished Masters must have mastered at least five paths of Dur-An-Ki to the advanced level and have twenty rituals. They must challenge a higher ranking Sorcerer to get this rank and the promotion must be approved by the Amr.

Rank 5: Full Master (Coordinator Approval)

The Full Masters of Alamut are some of the greatest movers and shakers of the Clan. They direct the day to day activities and goals of the Blood. Their title claims much respect and they shoulder duties and orders directly from the Du’at. Full Master Warriors instill fear into Alamut’s enemies, their very presence spelling death to those they face. Full Master Viziers are the spymasters, master craftsmen, and adept scholars without equal. Full Master Sorcerers are Magi that have gone to heights on the Ladder of Heaven unknown to many and are often as feared as Warriors with their proficiency of the arcane arts. It is from this rank that the Silsila and Council of Scrolls are selected. To get the rank of Full Master, they must prove themselves to all the Full Masters of Alamut and get approved by their respective member of the Du’at. A notable example of a Full Master is Kaleemah, Shepherd of the Lost.

Rank 3+: Emeritus (Coordinator Approval)

This is simply a title of honor. It is appended to a Master’s title. Among the Loyalists, it is used to distinguish Masters who have gone to torpor and yet to have risen or have retired from the day to day life of Alamut. For example, a Distinguished Master who willingly fell into Torpor would be referred to as a Distinguished Master Emeritus. Nakurtum had this title before she awoke and claimed the position of Vizier. This is notably given to well respected and high ranking Elders who chose to go Dispossessed instead of involving themselves in the Schism and Clan politics. A key example of this, is if a Loyalist wanted to refer to the mighty Antara in a very respectful way, they would refer to him as Full Master Emeritus Antara. From a PC standpoint, this title is generally given to a character who is Rank 3 or above who has chosen to retire or shelve their character for the foreseeable future.

Rank 5: Silsila (Coordinator Approval)

Created long ago by Nakurtum, the Silsila, or Keepers of the Blood, are the chosen who serve the Du’at directly. To be appointed to the rank of Silsila is a matter of great honor and great responsibility. The Silsila are the masters of the Path of Blood and the Laws of Haqim. They are Haqim’s avenging angels, his holy priests, and greatest defenders for they are Alamut’s last line of defense. Only the Du’at may appoint an Assamite to the rank of Silsila and they must be among the most devout on Path or Road of Blood (4 or 5 morality). Although most non-Warrior Silsila were purged by Ur-Shulgi, any caste among the Full Masters is welcome if they are so chosen. They are considered one rank higher if acting upon the will of the Du’at or the Eldest.

Warrior Title of Acclaim: Da’i (Coordinator Approval)

This Warrior title, meaning “missionary” is something of a subdivision of the Rafiq. Those among the Loyalists who pride themselves as the holy warriors of Haqim and the Path of Blood are known as Da’i. To become a Da’i a Rafiq must walk the Path or Road of Blood and be accepted by the Da’i as a whole for membership.

Warrior Title of Acclaim: Ace (Coordinator Approval)

This warrior rank is granted to any Rafiq who has killed a notable or powerful enemy of the clan. These are considered the elite among the Rafiq. While most of the Aces are also members of the Web of Knives, it is not a requirement. Aces are often viewed as actuals among the Rafiq who see themselves as a league above all other Assamites. This title is only given by the Caliph.

Rank 6: The Council of Scrolls (NPC Only)

Although Ur-Shulgi had originally disbanded the Council of Scrolls and many of their members had fled during the Schism, the return of Haqim has led to many councilors returning to Alamut. The Council of Scrolls fulfills their role of being masters of various scholarly pursuits.

Rank 7: The Du’at (NPC Only)

The Du’at are the chosen leaders of the castes appointed by Haqim himself. There is only ever one in each of the available positions to the castes. These Elders are handpicked by the Eldest to be their right hand and to lead the clan. Members of the Du’at may be challenged for their position and replaced if they defeat the current seat holder. All such challenges are approved by the Eldest. Members of the Du’at are Assamite Coordinator NPC only.

Warriors: The Caliph is the greatest Warrior of Clan Assamite and leads the Rafiq, the army of Alamut. The current Caliph is Thetmes, leader of the Web of Knives. Thetmes is the only Assamite known who has been granted the right by Haqim to slay others of the Blood. Betrayal on the field could lead to the loss of an entire legion of Rafiq and Thetmes is trusted to act at his discretion. Many missions, even to non-Warriors, often go through the Caliph. The Caliph is the only one besides the Eldest who can approve the trading of Quietus and Assamite Combination Disciplines outside Alamut. To do so without the Caliph’s permission is to draw his ire.

Sorcerers: The Amr is the greatest Sorcerer of Clan Assamite. Before the Schism, the legendary Al-Ashrad held this rank for over a millennium. Now the current Amr is his child, Amaravati. Other than the Eldest, the Amr is the only one in Alamut who can approve a Non-Sorcerer, or even rarer a Non-Assamite, to learn the ancient practices of Dur-An-Ki. To guide those outside of Alamut or outside of caste to claim paths or rituals without the Amr’s permission is to anger the entire Du’at.
Viziers: The Vizier is the biggest political powerhouse and knowledgeable individual in Alamut. Before the Schism, the legendary Tegyrius held this position and after it had remained vacant. However, in 2020, the first woman Eldest of Alamut and direct childe of Haqim, Nakurtum, rose from Torpor and claimed the position. The Vizier is typically in charge of missions of diplomacy. Where the Caliph is the sword of Alamut, the Vizier is the mightier pen. However, she is not to be underestimated, for she was the creator of the terrifying Silsila and her training led to their fearsome reputation.

Rank 8: The Eldest (NPC Only)

Before Ur-Shulgi the last Eldest was Jamal. The Eldest or “Old Man of the Mountain” or “Old Man” by tradition is the oldest Child of Haqim active to lead the entire Clan. The Eldest is the supreme master of Alamut and speaks with the authority of Haqim when he is absent. All are expected to follow their orders without question. The Eldest is the only ones who may approve a duel to the death between Assamites who have an irremediable issue. The Eldest may be challenged for leadership of the clan by one of the Du’at. This position only exists when Haqim is absent from Alamut.

Rank 9: Haqim the Hunter (NPC Only… duh)

The founder and Father of Clan Assamite, Haqim is the supreme leader of the clan. There are none greater or above him. All Loyalists seek to become one with him and would gladly die for him. Some claim that Haqim is of the second generation having embraced himself of the King’s Blood and drank the soul of the Queen of Enoch. Haqim retains the power of the Eldest, but with the undying faith of his Blood.

Change to be completed by the Document’s Team, who may make any necessary grammatical and format changes as needed.

Reasoning: I plan to recreate the entire packet later, but the Loyalist Rank section is very confusing and much is left to interpretation. This change will eliminate confusion and be much more straightforward.

Legacy Exemption: N/A. Warriors who have ranks that changed names may still retain their rank level.
