Custom Combination Discipline / Technique
Some chronicles allow for their players to develop customized powers for their characters. The following is a compilation of player created custom content in OWBN. At this time, custom content that is created and/or used by vampire PC's is required to be listed.
Discipline Name | Discipline Level |
---|---|
Auspex | 4 |
Obtenebration | 4 |
A character with this power has learned to reach out with miniscule threads of darkness and touch the dreaded Spectral Hive-Mind, perhaps learning secrets, perhaps simply going mad in the process.
Begin by making Static social challenges against the local Shroud rating (or, if the character is on the dead side of the Shroud, against a difficulty of 4 traits) until you lose one or win five. For each challenge won, the character may ask the Storyteller one of the following questions, in no particular order:
Where is the nearest Spectre or concentration of Spectres?
Is someone or something else directing these Spectres?
Where is the most powerful Spectre in my immediate area?
What do these Spectres want?
What is a secret that only the Hive-Mind remembers?
With the possible exception of the last question, the answer to which can be anything the Storyteller wants the character to know, this power provides insight into Spectres only. It provides no information about wraiths who are not Spectres. If there are no Spectres within the character's immediate area, the power fails to activate.
When activating this power, the character takes one level of bashing damage per question asked, which cannot be mitigated with Fortitude or other discipline powers that reduce or otherwise mitigate damage and is not halved.
After using this power successfully, the character also develops an active derangement for the remainder of the scene, chosen by the Storyteller.
If a character uses this power while actually within the Labyrinth, they may receive other visions or flashes of insight, but at an even greater cost to the character's health and sanity, at the Storyteller's discretion.
This power does not grant the character any ability to see or interact with Spectres across the Shroud - only potential knowledge of their presence. Its use, however, is always visible to any Spectres with line of sight to the character, regardless of the Shroud, and Spectres who see it in use are immediately aware that the character has intruded upon their Hive-Mind.
