Custom Combination Discipline / Technique
Some chronicles allow for their players to develop customized powers for their characters. The following is a compilation of player created custom content in OWBN. At this time, custom content that is created and/or used by vampire PC's is required to be listed.
Discipline Name | Discipline Level |
---|---|
Protean | 3 |
Thanatosis | 3 |
For a traveler in the wilds, Earth Meld is and always has been an invaluable power, protecting those who use it from the worst dangers of traveling. It is not perfect, however. This technique was created with that in mind, in hopes of protecting the user further through the combined use of Thanatosis.
System: You must be touching raw soil to use Ashen Slumber; you cannot sink through stone, wood, concrete or other substances. You immediately begin sinking into the earth itself, taking you with only your clothing and small personal possessions that you carry (such as a cellular phone or a small pistol). As you sink into the earth, you also begin transforming into a pile of thick, sticky ash.
While in this state, you cannot move, except to rise at will. However, unlike Earth Meld, while you are still partially diffused into spirit by your connection to the soil, your ashen state is also mixed into the soil. This allows you to vaguely sense your surroundings (10 feet in all directions) during this time, and you are completely immune to physical attacks, fire, and sunlight so you may still rest undisturbed.
If your patch of soil is disrupted, you immediately return to physical form, shooting up to the surface and showering dirt and ashes in all directions. A simple test versus ten physical traits determines how badly your ashes are dispersed within the dirt.
Win: You are a single, large pile of ash. Able to reform into yourself without issue
Tie: If you can match or beat the traits, nothing happens. If you cannot, a small pile of ash is separated and should you reform one limb is missing
Loss: A larger portion of ash is separated and should you reform, two limbs are missing
Retest: Survival
You cannot act during the first turn that you rise from the soil in this fashion, though if you rise up of your own accord (which you may do at any time), you are fully aware and able to act normally with no bodyparts missing once you reform.
Regardless of how you surface, either disturbed or of your own free will, your ashes are mixed with the dirt. Those expecting a body to shoot from the ground will not find one.
