Requires Advanced Cenotaph Path Necromancy to learn.

Created by Johannes Geere of the Ghiberti Family of Clan Giovanni, he has utilized his knowledge of the Cenotaph path of Necromancy to create a ritual that he believes will be of long term benefit to the clan. Clan Giovanni has utilized Wraiths to accomplish many tasks throughout the centuries, however locating fetters has always been a hurdle to ensuring their loyalty. Furthermore, useful human retainers will inevitably perish. This ritual solves both of these problems.

The Giovanni drafts a contract utilizing a quill crafted from the fingerbone of a corpse that has been dead no less than 50 years with specially prepared inks made from soot from a candle made from human fat. The contract must outline the services that they (or the individuals they are representing) will provide, the length of service provided by the Wraith should the second party become a Wraith at the time of their demise, and what services will be expected of them. Both parties sign the contract in their own blood, thus completing the ritual. Upon their demise, should the subject become a Wraith, the signed contract becomes a fetter.

System: The caster makes a static mental challenge at a difficulty of 9 traits utilizing the Law ability as a retest to draft the contract. The signatories must be signing the contract of their own free will, as any mind altering powers will instantly cause the ritual to fail. Should the subject's soul already be spoken for (either through other magical effects or having sold their soul) the text of the contract immediately fades away, rendering it void and the magics inert.

The subject can no longer sell their soul as their soul is spoken for. Should the subject be diablerized, the diablerist gains no benefits but still bears all the signs of having committed the act.

Should the terms of the contract be broken by the caster (or those the caster represents) the contract ceases to be a fetter and crumbles to dust, having no ill effect on the Wraith. Should the subject of the ritual violate the contract, the caster (or those the caster represents) become instantly aware that the Wraith has violated the terms of the contract.

This ritual does NOT cause the subject to become a Wraith when they die, it only ensures that the contract becomes a fetter if they do become a wraith upon death.
