Hi! I'm Heather Knox, tpo of Sigi "One Bitch Army" Gerhardt on the Garou side of things and Effie February on the Anarch side, as well as a few other PCs I don't play as often or that are in the works. I joined OWBN in 2018, but have been playing World of Darkness for about 25 years, both tabletop and troupe LARP.
When not nerding out with y'all, I can be found with my spirited daughter Sylvia or at work in a local TV newsroom as a Digital Producer. I've worn many other hats professionally, including writer, editor, professor, creative director, others.

Personal Statement:
While I don't have a ton of org admin or staff experience, I bring to this position a wealth of diverse outside experience that influences how I approach the concept of mediation, including customer service, teaching, collaborative workplace teamwork, creative problem solving, and mentorship. I truly feel that there is no situation that can't benefit from mediation if those involved genuinely want to work through their differences for a better outcome. Often, though, this requires the guidance of someone outside the conflict who can engage equitably and respectfully with all involved parties.
As much as we might want to say that a skilled mediator is objective, there is always going to be a human element to what we handle--no amount of pretending can bury the fact that emotions run high in this hobby because we're all passionate about this world we've built and the stories we're telling. Mediation, at its core, relies on empathy, connection, respect, a review of the facts, and creative problem solving to give those involved a chance at an outcome that is as fair as possible.
Mediation shouldn't be a last-ditch effort to find common ground. Mediation is a tool. The earlier that tool is used when there's a conflict, the more effective it can be.

Embora eu não tenha muita experiência em administração organizacional ou equipe, trago para esta posição uma riqueza de experiências externas diversas que influenciam a forma como abordo o conceito de mediação, incluindo atendimento ao cliente, ensino, trabalho em equipe colaborativo no local de trabalho, solução criativa de problemas, e mentoria. Eu realmente sinto que não há situação que não possa se beneficiar da mediação se os envolvidos realmente quiserem superar suas diferenças para obter um resultado melhor. Muitas vezes, porém, isto requer a orientação de alguém fora do conflito que possa interagir de forma equitativa e respeitosa com todas as partes envolvidas.
Por mais que queiramos dizer que um mediador qualificado é objetivo, sempre haverá um elemento humano naquilo que lidamos - nenhuma quantidade de fingimento pode enterrar o fato de que as emoções são intensas neste hobby porque somos todos apaixonados por esse mundo que construímos e pelas histórias que contamos. A mediação, na sua essência, baseia-se na empatia, na ligação, no respeito, na revisão dos factos e na resolução criativa de problemas para dar aos envolvidos uma oportunidade de obter um resultado que seja o mais justo possível.
A mediação não deve ser um último esforço para encontrar um terreno comum. A mediação é uma ferramenta. Quanto mais cedo essa ferramenta for usada quando há um conflito, mais eficaz ela poderá ser.
Goals:
Some great points have been made in others' applications about streamlining and standardizing the DA process, providing transparency while respecting confidentiality, and fleshing out the mediation process so that it is accessible to those who want to seek it out--and I share and support these goals.
At the end of the day, though? I want to help others keep enjoying this hobby we all devote so much of our time, energy, and passion to. I want to help my fellow LARPers preserve OOC friendships even when things have gone south IC. I want to help new players find their voice so they stick around long enough to become veteran players.
And I think mediation is at the center of all that.

Quero ajudar os novos jogadores a encontrarem sua voz para que permaneçam por tempo suficiente para se tornarem jogadores veteranos.
E acho que a mediação está no centro disso.
