Introduction and Background:

Greetings One World by Night!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Marc Lake. I enjoy playing Magic: the Gathering, working with my hands (especially making props), and I’m a big anime fan.

I work as the Lead job coach for Goodwill of Western & Northern CT, where I coordinate a diverse team of job coaches beneath me in our efforts to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain stable employment. During the course of my every day, my team is confronted with emotionally charged arguments and disputes. It is a regular (and sadly large) part of my job to de-escalate those disagreements and provide resolutions based on facts and evidence. Having a team that can give thoughtful input and accept direction is critical to ensuring these resolutions.

I have participated in OWbN in some form of administrative capacity for over five years, collectively, and in the Changing Breeds genre for almost ten years. During that time, I have explored much of each of the various sub-gamelines of the Changing Breeds genre. I feel that my administrative experience coupled with my experience with the varied parts of the Changing Breeds genre will be an asset to One World by Night.

Para quem não me conhece, sou Marc Lake. Gosto de jogar Magic: the Gathering, trabalhar com as mãos (principalmente fazendo adereços), e sou um grande fã de anime.

Trabalho como coach de trabalho líder da Goodwill of Western & Northern CT, onde coordeno uma equipe diversificada de coaches de trabalho abaixo de mim em nossos esforços para ajudar pessoas com deficiência a encontrar e manter um emprego estável. No decorrer do meu dia a dia, minha equipe é confrontada com discussões e disputas carregadas de emoção. É uma parte regular (e infelizmente grande) do meu trabalho diminuir essas divergências e fornecer soluções baseadas em fatos e evidências. Ter uma equipe que possa fornecer informações ponderadas e aceitar a orientação é fundamental para garantir essas resoluções.

Eu participei do OWbN em alguma forma de capacidade administrativa por mais de cinco anos, coletivamente, e no gênero Changing Breeds por quase dez anos. Durante esse tempo, explorei muito de cada uma das várias sub-gamelines do gênero Changing Breeds. Eu sinto que minha experiência administrativa, juntamente com minha experiência com as várias partes do gênero Changing Breeds, será um trunfo para One World by Night.

Personal Statement:

The position of Changing Breeds Coordinator offers an opportunity to refresh a general interest in the Changing Breeds genre and to take steps toward easing tensions that may exist between regions. It represents a responsibility to all of OWbN’s members to resolve any potential past conflicts with the office, and help to prevent any from forming in the future.

Some of the most important things I have learned in my time as both an admin in OWbN and in my real life are as follows:
Accomplishing a goal is simplest when you establish a path towards it.
Treat everyone’s concerns with respect and dignity.
The most valuable skill is recognizing one’s biases in order to avoid them.
Being honest and transparent wherever possible calms nerves.
Make decisions based on evidence rather than emotions, and make sure people understand their options.

I know that times have been tough for everyone recently. Many have had their personal lives strained and disrupted, and work situations have long since been taking their toll. For some of us, this has limited our ability to participate in and enjoy OWbN. Others have relied on OWbN and those interactions with friends to get them through hard times. Regardless of how this pandemic has affected everyone, remember: I’m polling for you. We’re all in this together.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read my application, and whether or not I am elected as Changing Breeds Coordinator, I hope you got to know me a little better.

A posição de Coordenador de Raças Metamórficas oferece uma oportunidade para renovar o interesse geral no gênero Raças Metamórficas e tomar medidas para aliviar as tensões que possam existir entre as regiões. Representa uma responsabilidade para todos os membros do OWbN de resolver quaisquer potenciais conflitos passados ​​​​com o escritório e ajudar a evitar que se formem no futuro.

Algumas das coisas mais importantes que aprendi no meu tempo como administrador no OWbN e na minha vida real são as seguintes:
Alcançar um objetivo é mais simples quando você estabelece um caminho para ele.

Para alguns de nós, isso limitou nossa capacidade de participar e aproveitar o OWbN. Outros confiaram no OWbN e nessas interações com amigos para passar por momentos difíceis. Independentemente de como essa pandemia afetou a todos, lembre-se: estou pesquisando para você. Estamos juntos nessa.

Eu realmente aprecio você tomar o tempo para ler minha inscrição, e se eu for ou não eleito Coordenador de Raças em Mudança, espero que você tenha me conhecido um pouco melhor.

Goals:

  • Resolve any outstanding Coordinator Approval requests and NPC interaction requests, and establish a hard 72 hour response time for future requests.
  • Resolve any conflicts involving the Changing Breeds Coordinator’s office.
  • Release updated Tribal packets for player use.
  • Push any existing Changing Breeds Genre national plots which may still be active towards resolutions, and provide players and storytellers with the means to do so.

Goals (Portuguese):

  • Resolva quaisquer solicitações pendentes de Aprovação do Coordenador e solicitações de interação NPC e estabeleça um tempo de resposta rígido de 72 horas para solicitações futuras.
  • Resolver quaisquer conflitos envolvendo o escritório do Coordenador de Raças Metamórficas.
