2013 - Ventrue - Brian Orlando
Introduction and Background:
My name is Brian Orlando, and I am OWbN’s Ventrue Coordinator. Since taking the office in November 2011, we have made many, many improvements to the resources and assets of the office and I wish to continue the positive impact my administration has had in 2013. In many ways, 2013 will be a tough year, administratively. I am going to be pushing my regional Sub-Coords to take more active roles in their regions, and I am going to be pushing my non-regional Sub-Coords to be more interactive in their various segments of the genre (i.e. Societies, on the Prince’s lists, etc). More importantly, I am going to be asking the players this coming year to start demanding more of the Coord-Team as the Ventrue characters around the org need to start establishing networks where none existed previously, in addition to strengthening their existing networks. I still believe that choosing to play a character who survives by political savvy and by being a strong leader is a play-style which should be encouraged and rewarded.
Administrative Experience:
In addition to serving as the Coordinator, here are some other org positions I’ve held: - Ventrue Coordinator since Nov 2011 - HST for the Tampa Chronicle for over 6 years - CM for the Tampa Chronicle for over 5 years - Assamite Sorcery Sub-Coord since 2010 - Sabbat Sub-Coord for Loyalists, and the South since 2010 In my personal life, I hold a Bachelors in Information Systems, work in Software Development, and like to travel. In my professional career, I am called on to develop and test solutions to fit a particular need on a daily basis. Professionalism, as well as communication skills, both written, and in public-speaking, are paramount.
Personal Statement:
Our genre documents now more closely align with the materials presented by White Wolf, and for the first time fully support both the Antitribu and Anarch sides of the Clan. With this and the rest of the updates to the majority of our OOC resources, the Ventrue are poised for great things in 2013. I envision the Ventrue as the clan who publicly supports each other without question. I envision the various societies as the champions of their particular area of expertise and whom are called on regularly by other Ventrue to provide said expertise, and I envision the Ventrue (of all sects) setting the opinions and trends that the masses follow. In closing, I want to do everything I can to help make playing Ventrue fun, interesting, and engaging. I have delivered on the majority of my campaign promises from last term and am ready do even more in the coming year!
Goals:
If re-elected, I will continue to improve the genre, encouraging Ventrue networking at events and over lists, talking to players and staff members, and actively working to figure out how to make the game better. The following goals are presented in no particular order: 1. Dignitas Guide Revision - Main goal being to separate Directorate genre from Ventrue genre - Bring punishments and disputes in-line with the Genre Doc and offer guidance and how-to advice - Move to a Non-Binding platform and associated clean-up of Ventrue-related R&U 2. Societies Revision - Inclusion of the Sabbat version of the Knights of the Blood - Inclusion of the various Secret Societies and various distribution lists created behind-the-scenes to support these groups - Try to reduce redundancies as best as possible - Move to a Non-Binding platform and associated clarifications of Ventrue-related R&U 3. Document Compatibility with Mobile Platforms - A review of all genre documents for formatting compliance with mobile platforms 4. Lineage Improvements - Continue to expand each Lineage listed on the website - Push for all characters in the current list to have a detailed Wiki page entry - Integrate the known canon Antitribu and Anarch Ventrue into the listing - Make the canon vs non-canon status of each character more easily distinguishable at a higher-level (also needs to be done for sect) - Require non-canon character entries to list a point-of-contact for information and questions - Possibly taking on a team of research sub-coords to staff this project 5. Resources and Support - Continue to add support NPCs to the Coord “toolbox” in the form of Old-World Princes, Primogen, Regional Strategos and Praetors, Society members, and other Elders - Consider creating a recruiter-like position for the Societies that need the most help - Assigning players/narrators for the NPCs who are used the most to maintain their presence (both in-person, and on the lists) - Continue to add to the free Acknowledgement listing so people may have more tie-ins with Ventrue - Push regional Sub-Coords to ensure top-down directives and information are being administered and distributed 6. Response Times - Continue to keep them down, down, down! 7. General Clean-up of Ventrue R&U - Review to see if our current practices are efficient or necessary 8. Directorate Revision/Revitalization - This is a player-started initiative that I will support with a Coordinated Story 9. Lucinde’s Story - Continue to make sure we have an active and involved Justicariate - Propose the use of Lucinde as a hunter/killer of Camarilla criminals by reaching out to other Coords and Chronicles to come up with ideas and plans for her usage
