Proposal Type: Bylaw Revision
Opened: 04-Jun-2004 1:00AM EDT
Closing: 14-Jun-2004 1:00AM EDT
CiET does not feel that a proposal to terminate a character, substantially re-write it, or to require a chronicle to submit anything to the R/U coord
falls within the intent of Council's grant of authority to genre
coordinators to make genre proposals.
Therefore CiET believes that the Council must make clear whether these are
powers it wishes to grant a genre coordinator to utilize as a genre
proposal not requiring a second. CiET proposes that any proposal that
involves substantially re-writing a character or eliminating it must ALWAYS
be proposed by a designated CM and seconded by another CM in accordance
with OWBN tradition

New York City, NY - USA, Kings of New York | Against | fuck this noise, bitches. |
St. Petersburg, FL - USA, Faces of Change | Against | There are already enough checks and balances for Coords. This proposal is not needed. |
Los Angeles, CA - USA, La Sangre De Los Angeles | Against
Saint Paul, MN - USA, Obsidian Towers | Abstain | Uncertain of which is less mature, this proposal or the responses to it. |
Berkeley, CA - USA, Wasting the Dawn | Against
Stockton, CA - USA, Stockton by Night | Against
Duluth, MN - USA, Thicker than Blood | Against | I agree that this is not necessary. Council can still override a decision of a coord if they feel it way out of line or inappropriate. |
Chicago, IL - USA, Dark Requiem | Abstain | Can someone rewite this so that it makes more sense, please? I don't understand the intent. |
Fredericksburg, VA - USA, Caine's Chosen: Liberty in Death | Against | Genre coords need more teeth, not less. |
Indianapolis, IN - USA, Stars Never Rise | Against | *sighs* |
Winona, MN - USA, Winona Dark Haven | Against
Norwalk, CT - USA, Rails of Revolution | Against
San Francisco, CA - USA, Always Comes Evening | Abstain | If this is discussion, why isn't it being discussed on the council list and by CMs with players? Why the fake vote? |
Providence, RI - USA, Hidden Flame | Against | I don't think this is advisable. Slightly off topic, it would be nice if people kept their voting comments civil and appropriate. |
Atlanta, GA - USA, Whispers of Atlanta | Against | We would rather see a more well thought out proposal, this one is a little too heavy handed. We would also like to see more well thought out and mature responses from other Council Members. |
Cleveland, OH - USA, Carpe Noctum | Against
Cincinnati, OH - USA, Shadows of Cincinnati | Against
Columbus, OH - USA, Columbus in Darkness | Against | 1. the prop is badly worded2. The circumstances behind the prop make it seem petty 3. Unneccessary |
Springfield, IL - USA, Capitol City Cauldron | Against
Washington, DC - USA, Shadows on the Mall | Against | I hope people remember that the player base can read your comments in vote such as these. |
Phoenix, AZ - USA, Secundus Surrectum | Against | Christ, the Coords are Hamstrung as it is. Giovanni with Sabbat Thaum, and Mortuus? Brujah running around teaching Path of Blood? Toreador Elders on Golconda? Genre coords need to be able to fix what bad ST's allow. |
Kenosha, WI - USA, Memento Mori | Against
Green Bay, WI - USA, Shattered Dreams | Against
Harrisonburg, VA: Death in the Valley | Against | Being a Coordinator is a difficult, frustrating job at best. Why further nueter this position, which has very little recourse to do the job as it is? |
Iowa City, IA - USA, L'Ange Noir | Against
Northern Virginia, VA - USA, Night Falls | Against
Annapolis, MD - USA, Vitae Aeternus | Abstain | This seemed kind of knee jerk reaction to the other issue. I still think there may be some salvageable ideas here, but this one is kind of tainted by the other controversey at present. |
Edwardsville, IL - USA, Caught in Eternal Twilight | Against | The proposal as drafted is too vague and uncertain. Bill is correct that anything of this nature should be in the by-laws. I also, in retrospect, think that this should be a concrete procedure rather than an abstract dictum. Finally and most importantly, as far as I know this was never seconded, and evn though I made the prop, I will not vote yes for something so violative of our basic procedures. |
AHC 1 | Against | Genre issues should be proposed by Genre coordinators. Genre proposals encompass plot as well as genre maintenance. |
Chronicle/Position Unknown | Against | I understand and agree with part of the intent. However, it will greatly undermine the abilities of our elected Coords. WE empower them to do their job. The intent is ok (as I understand how you are feeling at the moment), but the delivery and the broad-sweeping problems it will cause is reason for us to oppose. I would also support a prop for more civility in votes. They should be handled in a serious fashion. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | Against | Genre coordinators do not have much power at all. Their power is granted by council. They have the authority to draft any proposal they want, it does not mean they will be successful. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | Abstain | I can see where they are coming from and we agree that the Prop put up IMHO is certainly not a Genre Prop. It is soley a diciplinary action. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | Against | Why don't you just prop to eliminate genre coords? Would that solve your problems? This doesn't need discussion. The genre coords, if anything, need more influence. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | Abstain | I agree that any attempt by a coord (or anyone for that matter) to GNC a valid character (and I know that I get into trouble using a subjective word like valid) should require a second. I don't support disallowing Coords from making proposals that seriously AFFECT their genre. Cool down, clean this up, and have it address the real issues here, then resubmit. I think you'll be surprised at what a better reaction you'll get. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | Against | The Coords are already neutered as far as enforcing their genre (remember, that thing we ELECTED them to do). These things still go to vote, and still get voted on my coucil... it is not solely the Coord's decision. Secondly, this type of proposal most certainly IS a genre proposal. If the character is out of genre, they should be brought back in line. That's what the Coords are for. Let them do their job. |
