Reasoning:

If the books say there are fewer than 10 in existence, then we honestly shouldn't have 30+ PCs running around with them, okay? I know those items are awesome. And I'm not saying the PCs can't make something that does something remarkably similar. But seriously. In mage are capable of being creative and letting the unique canon magic items be unique.
