MET Mechanics:
Some accounts claim that this power was first developed by Zarathustra, ruling from his
darkened citadel in Antioch millennia ago, others that Constantius of Rome first developed this
art. Still others lay it at the feet of Montano or the Founder himself. All agree that the power
had spread to Sicily and the clan at large by the time of the Anarch Revolt, but that the art fell
out of favor when Sabbat packs roamed the countryside of Europe, destroying their elders rather
than holding vast demesnes wreathed in eternal night. Only the followers of the Lightless Path of
Night held firmly to the memory and use of this power, for it allowed them to continue to use
their Dominate discipline while shrouded in the darkness that they prized above all else. To this
day the art is a cherished necessity of the sinister followers of Lightless Night who choose to use
their powers of Dominate while never seeing or being seen their foes.
System: Exerting herself through the very essence of Darkness, the Lasombra can affect the
minds of others without gazing through the eyes into the soul, for the Darkness gazes into the
hearts of all it touches within its ebon embrace. When activated, the wielder of this art may use
the powers of Dominate and Animalism without making eye contact, but must surrender herself
to the Darkness first. If she is in the Black Metamorphosis form, she most first physically touch
her target’s eyes (or eye sockets), possibly requiring a brawl attack. If she is in Tenebrous Form
she need merely envelope her foe as her dark will overcomes any resistance. After this contact
she may use powers of Dominate and Animalism that normally require eye contact with the
target. Powers that do not require eye contact (like Beckoning) remain unaffected by this power.
Use of this power requires the expenditure of one blood trait per scene in addition to the cost of
any use of Black Metamorphosis or Tenebrous Form.
