2019 - Membership - Caroline "Joy" Wood
Introduction and Background:
Hi! My name is Joy. I live out in Southern Cali and I’ve been apart of OWbN for about Four years now. Prior to that I hang out with the MES group before they were MES. I have been a subcoord for Changing Breeds and the Historian group- and an HST and AST on and off for Dark Side of the Moon (Los Angeles/ Garou) and AST for La Sange De Los Angeles (Cam/Anarch).
I have been playing World of Darkness for about 27 odd years now- tabletop, online, LARP. I absolutely love the genre of personal horror and storytelling has always been one of my passions. In the real world I ask people if their computers turned on- and troubleshoot all the other wiggles of operating computers in a modern world. I am also a single mom- my son is 17 going on 18 in February.
I absolutely love OWbN, and while I haven’t traveled much in the past except up and down California’s Coast- I have hopes to do so in the future. Thankfully with Discord and the internet I’ve gotten the pleasure to meet a lot of people in our org that don’t come to California. I have worked previously with other Membership coordinators about territory and working out things with Dark side of the Moon’s Satellite game. I really think that with a bit of training I can be a great membership coordinator for the org!

Oi! Meu nome é Joy. Moro no sul de Cali e faço parte da OWbN há cerca de quatro anos. Antes disso, eu saio com o grupo MES antes que eles fossem MES. Eu tenho sido um subcoord de Changing Breeds e o grupo Historian - e um HST e AST dentro e fora do Dark Side of the Moon (Los Angeles / Garou) e AST do La Sange De Los Angeles (Cam / Anarch).
Eu jogo World of Darkness há cerca de 27 anos ímpares - mesa, online, LARP. Eu absolutamente amo o gênero de horror pessoal e contar histórias sempre foi uma das minhas paixões. No mundo real, pergunto às pessoas se os computadores estão ligados - e solucionamos todos os outros problemas dos computadores em operação no mundo moderno. Eu também sou mãe solteira - meu filho tem 17 anos e 18 em fevereiro.
Adoro absolutamente a OWbN e, embora não tenha viajado muito no passado, exceto na costa da Califórnia - espero fazer isso no futuro. Felizmente, com o Discord e a Internet, tive o prazer de conhecer muitas pessoas em nossa organização que não vêm para a Califórnia. Já trabalhei anteriormente com outros coordenadores de membros sobre território e resolvi coisas com o jogo Dark side of the Moon's Satellite. Administrative Experience:
In my “Real” Job I do a lot of administration, ticket creation, follow up of troubleshooting issues. I have a background in a lot of data entry and clerical. I enjoy organizing things and keeping things together. I type about 86 wpm- more when passionately fired up! I also speed read with high comprehension so going though a ton of emails isn’t that difficult for me.I have served and worked with a bunch of coordinators and games through my gaming experience with both OWbN and other LARP games.
Administrative Experience (Portuguese):
No meu trabalho "real", faço muita administração, criação de tickets, acompanhamento de problemas de solução de problemas. Tenho experiência em muita entrada de dados e clerical. Gosto de organizar e manter as coisas juntas. Eu digito cerca de 86 wpm - mais quando apaixonado! Também agilizo a leitura com alta compreensão, portanto, embora muitos toneladas de e-mails não sejam tão difíceis para mim. Servi e trabalhei com vários coordenadores e jogos através da minha experiência em jogos com OWbN e outros jogos LARP.
Personal Statement:
I believe that our Organization is made up of a lot of different volunteers and people. More importantly we come from a bunch of different areas of North and South America. We are sometimes not aware of the cultural shifts that happen between different areas and it’s important to remember that when taking on a role like Membership. I think there’s a lot of support a Membership coordinator can give the organization. I believe it’s critical to remain on top of ongoing issues and work with keeping a finger on the pulse of the membership as a whole to provide information and details to both Executive staff and local games. I believe I can totally be a positive force working with Storytellers, Coords and the membership of One World By Night.
Personal Statement (Portuguese):
Acredito que nossa organização é composta por muitos voluntários e pessoas diferentes. Mais importante, viemos de várias áreas da América do Norte e do Sul. Às vezes, não estamos cientes das mudanças culturais que ocorrem entre diferentes áreas e é importante lembrar que, ao assumir um papel como membro. Eu acho que há muito apoio que um coordenador de membros pode dar à organização. Eu acredito que é fundamental permanecer no topo das questões em andamento e trabalhar para manter o dedo no pulso da associação como um todo para fornecer informações e detalhes para a equipe executiva e os jogos locais. Acredito que posso ser totalmente uma força positiva trabalhando com Narradores, Coords e a participação no One World By Night.
Goals:
As the Membership Coordinator my goals would be to keep weekly office hours to make sure all emails and documentation are processed in a quick efficient manner. I would provide information to chronicles and the executive team to keep things moving as smoothly as possible. I would work on maintaining current information and meeting deadlines that are written in the bylaws. I would follow up with Chronicles and Storytellers/Council Members as needed to keep games updated and information available so new players can find our games.
Goals (Portuguese):
Como Coordenador de Associados, meus objetivos seriam manter o horário comercial semanal para garantir que todos os emails e documentação sejam processados de maneira rápida e eficiente. Eu fornecia informações às crônicas e à equipe executiva para manter as coisas funcionando da maneira mais tranquila possível. Eu trabalhava para manter as informações atuais e cumprir os prazos escritos no regimento interno. Gostaria de acompanhar Crônicas e Narradores / Membros do Conselho, conforme necessário, para manter os jogos atualizados e as informações disponíveis para que novos jogadores possam encontrar nossos jogos.
