2024 - Followers of Set - Michael Flickinger
Introduction and Background:
My name is Michael Flickinger and I am running for the Follower of Set Coord position! I have been playing OWBN probably around 12 years ago (give or take a year).
To give a brief history about myself, I graduated college in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Bachelor of Arts in Game Design. I have helped work on several AAA video games such as: CoD: MWR, CoD: IW, CoD: WW2, CoD: Online, Madden 21, Madden 22, Madden 23 and Ark: Survival Ascended. In these professional positions, I work closely with the design team on these. In terms of gameplay balance, are they fun, and what is overall working well / should be fixed. In addition I have worked as a Producer, ensuring time tables are met, promises are kept and work gets done. I have also worked for about 1 year as Tech support in a call center (finance industry) before being promoted as a Full Stack App Developer in that same company.
In OWBN I have been a Hunter Subcoord, Hunter Coord, and Garou subcoord. I have run / help run many OWBN games including Changeling and Hunter. I have been playing in the Setite genre specifically for a little over 8 years. I also run several DnD games and participate / run multiple DnD West Marches. I also want to mention that I have lived all over the United States, though I currently live in Florida. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to run for the Follower of Set coord position. Para contar uma breve história sobre mim, me formei na faculdade em 2015 com bacharelado em história e bacharelado em design de jogos. For my OWBN Administrative I have helped out as a Hunter subcoord, have been Hunter Coord (where I achieved all my campaign promises) and assisted as a Garou subcoord. During my time as Hunter Coord, I released several updated packets. As well as creating and running a new Hunter national plot and resolving the previous Hunter national plot that was going on (big shout out to Heather for all the work she did helping with this / from the Nos side). I have also helped run, or ran, multiple OWBN games. While working in the video game industry, I had tons of Administrative experience. Often I was working with several different studios, many times they were in different parts of the country and even the world.
At my current job I am a Producer which involves a lot of administrative duties as well. In addition my previous role was that of a team leader in the gaming industry overseeing multiple team members and helping mentor those in ny team. Finally, when working as a Help Desk IT it also requires a lot of admin experience. A mixture of answering phones, speaking with clients, answering emails in a time sensative manner, clerical work (specifically maintaining records and entering data), as well as dealing with sensitive data.

Para meu administrativo OWBN, ajudei como subcoord Hunter, fui Hunter Coord (onde cumpri todas as minhas promessas de campanha) e auxiliei como subcoord Garou. Durante meu tempo como Hunter Coord, lancei vários pacotes atualizados. Além de criar e administrar uma nova trama nacional de Hunter e resolver a trama nacional anterior de Hunter que estava acontecendo (um grande agradecimento a Heather por todo o trabalho que ela fez ajudando com isso / do lado Nos). Também ajudei a rodar ou rodar vários jogos OWBN. Enquanto trabalhava na indústria de videogames, tive muita experiência administrativa. Muitas vezes trabalhei com vários estúdios diferentes, muitas vezes eles estavam em diferentes partes do país e até do mundo.
No meu trabalho atual sou Produtor, o que também envolve muitas tarefas administrativas. Além disso, minha função anterior era a de líder de equipe na indústria de jogos, supervisionando vários membros da equipe e ajudando a orientar os membros de qualquer equipe. Finalmente, trabalhar como Help Desk IT também requer muita experiência administrativa. Uma mistura de atender telefones, falar com clientes, responder e-mails com agilidade, trabalho administrativo (especificamente manutenção de registros e inserção de dados), além de lidar com dados confidenciais.
Personal Statement:
I started playing OWBN probably around 12 years ago (give or take a year). I immediately grew to love the organization. The shared stories among a diverse player base, the ability to play with people across the world, the ability for anyone to get involved with the stories, and the aspect of all the different games belonging to a shared universe.
I have been a part of the Follower of Set genre since at least 2015, if not earlier. I have been through the ups and downs of the genre and have continued to stick through it. My intention, if elected, is to help promote and increase engagement of both those under the Follower of Set genre as well those in the Serpent of the Light. On both a local and national level. If elected, as the Follower of Set Coord, I would like to work with ST's, Players, and Coordinators to help promote this. From promoting / increasing the genre, helping inform STs about the genre, figuring out what is needed for existing players, as well as what would be needed or can be done to help encourage newer players. I also believe that, if elected as the Follower of Set Coord, it would be my responsibility to not only tell stories for the genre but also provide storytelling tools to the STs of OWBN. From a mixture of packets informing about the Setite genre, how Setites could be used in games without harming the overall genre, etc. I also want to make sure that the storytelling tools I do provide to the ST's are ones that they have requested / ones they find useful. I will make sure that when I provide these tools that I will also help showcase how they can be used / benefit those STs. In addition I would like to make sure to help support the Serpent of the Light genre with an updated genre packet as well as national plot to help make sure that those players in that genre are getting content as well. I also plan to help increase transparency of the office. Both by sharing results from surveys, giving players accurate and up to date information on what staff is working on, potential upcoming plots, clear expectations for the approval process, and finally making sure there is open, clear, and frequent communication with the player base.

Comecei a jogar OWBN provavelmente há cerca de 12 anos (mais ou menos um ano). Imediatamente passei a amar a organização. As histórias compartilhadas entre uma base diversificada de jogadores, a capacidade de jogar com pessoas de todo o mundo, a capacidade de qualquer pessoa se envolver com as histórias e o aspecto de todos os diferentes jogos pertencentes a um universo compartilhado.
Faço parte do gênero Follower of Set desde pelo menos 2015, se não antes. Passei pelos altos e baixos do gênero e continuei persistindo nele. Minha intenção, se eleita, é ajudar a promover e aumentar o envolvimento tanto daqueles do gênero Seguidor de Set quanto daqueles da Serpente da Luz. Tanto a nível local como nacional. Se eleito, como Seguidor do Set Coord, gostaria de trabalhar com ST's, Jogadores e Coordenadores para ajudar a promover isso. Desde promover/aumentar o gênero, ajudar a informar os STs sobre o gênero, descobrir o que é necessário para os jogadores existentes, bem como o que seria necessário ou pode ser feito para ajudar a encorajar os jogadores mais novos. Eu também acredito que, se eleito Seguidor de Set Coord, seria minha responsabilidade não apenas contar histórias para o gênero, mas também fornecer ferramentas de narrativa para os STs da OWBN. Goals:
Here are my following goals, which I hope my term as Hunter Coord has showcased I plan to meet if not exceed - as well as my track record of having done what I promised:
● 72 hour response time
● Establish a team of diverse Sub-coordinators from each region (including Brazil) who have no in-character investments related to their duties within 1 month of election.
○ Goal is to have representation for each region so that STs feel comfortable interacting with the coord office, as well as to help promote inclusion.
● Updates to the recently passed Follower of Set genre packet (with a big focus on cults) and a Setite Sorcery packet within 3 months of the elections.
○ Cults similar to Cam societies / Tremere houses & how to create them.
○ Formatting, spelling, clarifications, table of content updates, etc
● Survey within 1 month of state of genre / feedback + plot idea temperature checks for Serpent of the Lights.
○ New Serpent of the Light genre plot within 3 months after survey.
● Develop, propose and revise a Serpent of the Light packet within 6 months of the election.
○ In conjunction with the survey sent to Serpent of the Light players, subcoord, and input from STs.
● Progression of the Follower of Set genre to allow for many issues that are currently seen to be fixed.
○ Fixing issues with FoS being “bad guy of the week.”
○ Promotion of FoS as a “lesser evil” / emphasis on being useful members to have in Camarilla & Anarchs. Less emphasis on conversion of other PCs - more on politics.
○ Emphasis on cults for those already within the clan.
● Global plot to help with the previous plot point.
○ Working directly with other coordinator offices
● Help promote player cults and increased cult identity.
○ Previously mentioned Cults (and their creations) getting Cam Society / Tremere House / Changeling Freehold treatments in updated packet
● Create / establish genre expectations and enforcement which allow for growth and roleplay.
○ Increased interactions between PCs and NPCs on both Coordinator level and hopefully local level (by working closely with STs / reaching out to them).
● Promoting inclusion within the genre: Making sure all regions (including those outside the United States) are treated fairly / players in those regions have the same opportunities as any other region.
○ Subcoords to help represent each region
○ STs able to decide which subcoords they work with to help increase trust
○ Regional sub coords empowered to help STs promote genre plot on a local level / with STs assistance (under purview of Coord)
○ Factional sub coords to help ensure plot / content for the different factions (Followers of Set (specifically mainline cults / factions (warriors/priests/citizens), Serpent of Light, Children of Damballah / Osirian League, etc) under purview of Coord
● Quarterly check ins + surveys with player base (FoS + SoL) / fireside chats.
○ Check players thoughts upon the state of their genre
○ See type of plots players want
○ Answer questions submitted by players
○ Give sneak peaks for upcoming plots/packets/proposals
○ Potentially other additions such as “interviews” with NPCs, IC raffles (entry based upon PC participation, etc)
○ Increase transparency by letting players know what staff is working on, upcoming plots, visible survey feedback results (plot + state of genre), approval process, etc

Aqui estão meus objetivos a seguir, que espero que meu mandato como Hunter Coord tenha demonstrado que pretendo cumprir, se não exceder - bem como meu histórico de ter feito o que prometi:

○ Cultos semelhantes às sociedades Cam/casas Tremere e como criá-los.
○ Formatação, ortografia, esclarecimentos, atualizações de índice, etc.
● Pesquisa dentro de 1 mês sobre o estado do gênero/feedback + verificações de temperatura da ideia do enredo para Serpente das Luzes.
○ Novo enredo do gênero Serpente da Luz dentro de 3 meses após a pesquisa.
● Desenvolver, propor e revisar um pacote da Serpente da Luz dentro de 6 meses após a eleição.
○ Em conjunto com a pesquisa enviada aos jogadores da Serpente da Luz, subcoordenação e sugestões dos STs.
● Progressão do gênero Seguidor de Conjunto para permitir muitos problemas que atualmente foram corrigidos.
○ Correção de problemas com FoS sendo o “vilão da semana”.
○ Promoção do FoS como um “mal menor” / ênfase em serem membros úteis para se ter na Camarilla e Anarquistas. Menos ênfase na conversão de outros PCs – mais na política.
○ Ênfase em cultos para aqueles que já fazem parte do clã.
● Gráfico global para ajudar com o ponto anterior do gráfico.
○ Trabalhar diretamente com outros escritórios de coordenação
