Proposal Type: Opinion Poll
Opened: 10-Dec-2008 1:00AM EST
Closing: 12-Dec-2008 1:00AM EST
I hereby propose that we hold a poll to determine if the majority of games feel the necessity to impose some sort of regulation upon Story Tellers having PCs based in the Chronicle they are Storyteller for. This is a proposal for a poll only. An actual proposition for regulation methods will follow if the majority wishes such.
Options are to be as follows:
Yes, my game feels this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
No, my game does not feel this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
While there is no way to make sure that anyone does this, I hope that each game uses this as an opportunity to speak to their players and determine if this is actually something their players are concerned with.

Paducah, KY: Edge of Chaos | No,
Dubuque, IA - USA, Kingdom of Ashes | No, | Present Council with evidence of this being abused as we'll talk. Otherwise, it isn't a problem. |
St. Louis, MO - USA, Shadows of St. Louis | Yes, | Keep 'em Shelved while on Staff and under someone else's jurisdiction. |
Los Angeles, CA - USA, La Sangre De Los Angeles | Abstain
Rio Grande, RS - Brazil, Sobre a Areia Sempre Hostil | No,
Bloomington, IN - USA, Fallen Idols | No,
Saint Paul, MN - USA, Obsidian Towers | No,
Mt. Dora, FL - USA, Mutual Alliance | No,
Sheboygan, WI - USA, Blood on the Lake | No,
La Crosse, WI - USA, The Rivers Edge | No, | Although there may be unique circumstances where this is an issue, they are SOOOooo unique that I do not believe they can be resolved by org level regulation. |
Iowa City, IA - USA, Fields of Rage | Abstain | We have this situation, and we do not feel it impact us, but to show our support of this, we will abstain, rather than vote for non regulation. |
Buffalo, NY - USA, Frozen Queen | No, | This vote is dumb and you should feel bad. |
Cape Cod, MA - USA, Rage Across the Cape | No, | This should be in discussion on Council, not a vote. |
Berkeley, CA - USA, Wasting the Dawn | Yes, | Becca, WtD has always made sure our ST's PCs are based outside of our chronicle and cannot interact with the same game they are storytelling in; due to the conflict of interest. While understanding other chronicle's might not have anywhere else for their storytellers to play; We think some org address of this issue IS, in fact, necessary. Thx for the poll. |
Milwaukee, WI - USA, Nocturnal Rapture | No,
Decatur, IL - USA, The Chaos Within | Abstain | Local discussion not leaning strongly in either direction. |
Philadelphia, PA - USA, Honor in the Shadows | Yes, | My game feels it needs to be addressed if only to be put to bed once and for all. |
Promise, CA: Broken Promises | No,
Cleveland, OH - USA, An Uncertain Destiny | Yes,
Cedar Rapids, IA - USA, Five Nights | No, | However, games should put some sort of oversight into place. This is where the worst abuses of ''magic pencil'' or simply just awarding your own character 8 XP a month happen. Do we need a bylaw? No. There just needs to be some accountability and reasonable conduct. |
Duluth, MN - USA, Thicker than Blood | No,
Philadelphia, PA - USA, Nusquam | No, | Such a god damn waste of time. Instead of the shotgun approach, if there is a problem with a ST doing stuff for his own PC, prop them for administrative action and handle this on a case by case basis. |
Chicago, IL - USA, Dark Requiem | No,
Chronicle/Position Unknown | Yes, | We like the idea of polls prior to possible 'knee jerk reaction' by-law votes. Sadly, our chronicle had a very bad instance of ST impropriety, which is why we wished this to be discussed. |
Orange County, CA: Muerte Libre | No, | 1) Chron Sov. B) Geographically isolated games. iii) If you want to find out if a prop is needed and/or supported, the way to do that is to actually WRITE THE PROP AND PROPOSE IT. If it receives a second then someone agrees with you and would like to see it go to vote. Once we're actually discussing/voting on it, then you'll see if it's an issue that needs to be addressed, and if we're addressing it properly. Seriously. That's why the [SECONDED] and [AMMENDED] and [WITHDRAWN] options exist. If enough folks offer you a respectful STFU, GTFO during the discussion period, then you'll know you're in for some rewrites if you hope to get your issue passed. This method is simply a waste of everyone's time. Fish or cut bait, don't just sit on the gunwale asking us if you should motor out onto the lake. |
Indianapolis, IN - USA, Stars Never Rise | Abstain | There have been issues in the past in regards to this topic but polling before proping? Just prop it or not. |
Winona, MN - USA, Winona Dark Haven | No, | this vote is a waste of time. The org has no business regulating what characters can or should be based in which games. |
Sorocaba, SP - Brazil, Sorocaba by Night: The Abyss Within | No, | Nothing to worry |
Cedar Falls, IA - USA, Blackhawk Co. by Night | Yes, | Per player input... Subject to change. |
Norwalk, CT - USA, Rails of Revolution | No,
Providence, RI - USA, Hidden Flame | No, | Note: For those who think this is a waste of time, I do not feel it is nearly as much of a waste of time to prop this and get actual numbers showing that we really don't want this than to have it come up on Council every few months with no actual action. I don't want more regulation, my game doesn't want more regulation, we just want to show the few that keep bringing this up that it is going to go nowhere and can quit coming up every few months. |
Atlanta, GA - USA, Whispers of Atlanta | No,
Fargo, ND - USA, Within Shadow's Reach | No,
Brasília, DF - Brazil, Pacis Aeternae | Yes, | Most thinks it is a dumb stuff. My chronicle doesn't, but we will accepet we are alone on this, or at least on this vote. And we wanted to say that the council usually arbitrary on what it thinks as something that should go to the bylaws and what should be only dealt in case-by-case. It is not my position as control freak, but the position of the majority of my chronicle that feels unprotected on this. But, anyway, we will accept this council choice. Soon we will be addressing this as council is choosing, case by case. |
Allentown, PA - USA, Steel Valley by Night | No,
Macon, GA - USA, Stolen Hours | No,
Winchester, VA: Sins in the Valley | No,
Cincinnati, OH - USA, Shadows of Cincinnati | Yes,
Columbus, OH - USA, Columbus in Darkness | No,
Lexington, KY - USA, Panders Playground | No,
Gary, IN - USA, Shattered Souls | No, | I like pie... This non-sequitor by whipped cream |
Washington, DC - USA, Shadows on the Mall | No,
Phoenix, AZ - USA, Secundus Surrectum | No, | See A Family Affair and River of Shadows comments |
Amador, CA - USA, River of Shadows | No, | We would rather see a discussion on what is considered good manners & sportsmanship for storytellers, as more of an unofficial code of conduct before addressing this particular issue further. without an understanding of what the real concerns and expectations are, we really can't regulate St's based in their own games without punishing good Sts for the sake of a few bad eggs. |
Kenosha, WI - USA, Memento Mori | No,
Green Bay, WI - USA, Shattered Dreams | No, | Seriously, did we truly need this vote? |
New Orleans, LA - USA, Long Night | No,
Natal, RN - Brazil, Legacy of Blood | No,
Gimli, MB - Canada, Sang Nordique | No,
Iowa City, IA - USA, L'Ange Noir | No,
St. Augustine, FL - USA, On Haunted Ground | No,
Northern Virginia, VA - USA, Night Falls | No,
Annapolis, MD - USA, Vitae Aeternus | No,
Chicago, IL - USA, New Moon Rising | No, | We have addressed this issue in our charter and would like to keep control of this on a per game level... |
Baltimore, MD - USA, Dark Harbor | No,
Head Coord | Abstain | Abstaining because I'm not a game. :) |
Aracati | No, | Do not think having a bunch of control freaks acting as sheriffs controling pc's is a good idea for the org. |

Chronicle/Position Unknown | No, | While we believe in bringing IC issues closer in their continuity we believe that the administrations of individual chronicles should be left in the hands of the chronicles themselves. While I have actually seen this abused in other areas I believe that the current system for dealing with such abuse is adequete and should be used more often. |
