Introduction and Background:

Howdy! My name is Chase Jelliffe and I’m running for Assistant Head Coordinator. I’ve been playing in OWbN for over a decade and am probably most known for my time as Assamite Coordinator. Away from LARP, I enjoy tabletop games such as D&D and V20. I also listen to audiobooks daily with my favorite author being Brandon Sanderson. For work, I am a Senior R&D Engineer and I design intelligent hospital beds and other medical devices.

I am excited to throw my hat in to use the skills I have gained over the years to help players and volunteers alike on a national level.

Olá! Meu nome é Chase Jelliffe e estou concorrendo para Coordenador Chefe Assistente. Eu tenho jogado no OWbN por mais de uma década e provavelmente sou mais conhecido pelo meu tempo como Coordenador Assamita. Longe do LARP, eu gosto de jogos tabletop como D&D e V20. Eu também ouço audiobooks diariamente com meu autor favorito sendo Brandon Sanderson. Para o trabalho, eu sou um Engenheiro de P e D Sênior e desenho camas hospitalares inteligentes e outros dispositivos médicos.

At my current job, I work as a Senior R&D Engineer. In short, this requires critical thinking to come up with solutions to problems from start to finish while meeting the expectations of various groups. This includes getting requests from other departments in the company to change our processes and evaluating them to make sure they are applicable or a good fit for the company. With a senior position, I also have a leadership role among more junior engineers and help guide or instruct them. This mirrors much of the work that a Coordinator does, especially a member of the Executive Team.

Collectively, I have over twenty years experience volunteering for One World by Night in various positions. Most of which were elected positions where players put their trust in me to handle sensitive information and to handle disputes. Player Representative, which most games in One World by Night don’t have, is a voted upon position where the players elect their representative to handle disputes between them and storytellers. I was often entrusted with this position because I can remain impartial, give valuable feedback, and ensure the players feel heard. Some of my favorite aspects of volunteering in the org is the administrative side and I have a history of being timely and efficient in those duties. This experience has given me skills that will be best utilized by the Executive Team.

No meu trabalho atual, eu trabalho como Engenheiro Sênior de R&D. Em suma, isso requer que o pensamento crítico venha com soluçoes para problemas do início ao fim enquanto atende às expectativas de vários grupos. Isso inclui receber pedidos de outros departamentos da empresa para mudar nossos processos e avaliá-los para garantir que eles sejam aplicáveis ou adequados à empresa. Com uma posição sênior, eu também tenho um papel de liderança entre engenheiros mais juniores e ajudar a guiá-los ou instruí-los. Isso reflete muito do trabalho que um Coordenador faz, especialmente um membro da Equipe Executiva.

Coletivamente, tenho mais de vinte anos de experiência em voluntariado para One World by Night em vários cargos. A maioria dos quais foram eleitos cargos onde os jogadores depositaram sua confiança em mim para lidar com informação sensível e lidar com disputas. Player Representative, que a maioria dos jogos em One World by Night não tem, é uma posição votada onde os jogadores elegem seu representante para lidar com disputas entre eles e contadores de histórias. The last few years I have lived through quite a few tragedies in my personal life. Being a Coordinator was an escape and I enjoyed it a lot, but those tragedies dragged upon me until I had to make the hard yet very wise decision to step down. After a wonderful break of nearly a year, I am in a much better place than I was, personally and professionally. I’m refreshed and ready to take on more challenges. I am ready to take the next step.

Nos últimos anos vivi algumas tragédias na minha vida pessoal. Ser um Coordenador foi uma fuga e eu gostei muito, mas essas tragédias arrastaram-me até que tive que tomar a decisão difícil, porém muito sábia de renunciar. Depois de uma maravilhosa pausa de quase um ano, estou em um lugar muito melhor do que estava, pessoal e profissionalmente. Estou refrescado e pronto para enfrentar mais desafios. Estou pronto para dar o próximo passo.

Goals:

  • Work on overhauling the bylaws so they are more straightforward and easier to understand.
  • Reevaluate the Disciplinary Action Process
  • Business Continuity: Work with the rest of the Executive Team to have plans in place for unexpected absences, whether for myself or others on the team. This will eliminate as many unnecessary delays as possible.
  • Ensure that Proposals are added to the OWbN website, prepared to open after a week of discussion, within 72 hours of them being proposed as Autopass or having been Seconded.
  • Amend Proposals to General Consensus once requested within 48 hours if there are no objections.
  • Ensure that emails to the Executive Team are responded to within 72 hours. If delays are necessary for investigation, expectations are communicated clearly.
  • Keep other members of the Executive Team on task. Have a list of open tasks to be reviewed weekly.
  • Uphold the Code of Conduct consistently.
  • Moderate the OWbN Council and Storyteller email lists to ensure that the Executive Team is present in discussions as necessary and handles disputes and interpersonal issues on those lists in a timely manner.
  • Help guide the new Mediation Team to get them situated and ready to handle the workload.
  • Work hand in hand with the Web Coordinator to ensure any website issues are communicated so they are resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Ensure that Executive Team announcements and important information is communicated across the Council List, Storyteller List, and OWbN Social Media accounts as appropriate.

Goals (Portuguese):
