[Proposal] [Autopass] Mage Packet 2020

 

Pursuant to Coordinator bylaw §3.C.iii, as Mage Coord, I, Jason Place, propose the acceptance of the following packet:

Hey all, a few notes on this!

 

This packet is non-binding except for the specified binding rules section, which has been taking directly from the previous, passed packet.  As such, all the appropriate restrictions on characters are already in the bylaws, and all the hard restrictions listed in this packet are already in place.

 

That said, the reason I am proposing this rather than simply creating a separate non-binding packet is because some of the old packet's suggestions have been superseded.  As such, and since I want this new one to supplant the old voted-in one, I am submitting it as a proposal.

 

Everything apart from that section is simply proposed suggestions and standards.  They are optional, but I hope that these guidelines can help those STs who have felt somewhat adrift as Mage has become a much larger part of OWbN.

 

I was hoping to get this out simultaneously with the Traditions / Tradition Status packet, but unfortunately was not able to do so.  As we're nearing elections and we won't be able to propose things soon, I felt it important to at least get this one up, and the others can follow either under my direction or the direction of the new Mage coordinator, should someone else take the office.

Most of the focus of this packet is on simplifying cross-genre interactions, giving STs tools and guidelines for what an appropriate "power level" is for mage, and clearing up a lot of the questions I've had asked repeatedly over the past several years.  It's my hope that this more clearly outlines the abilities of mages and makes it easier for STs to run in a way that suits their chronicle.

 

The cover art is from the old packet, but may change if I receive use permission for a different piece from a different artist.  :)
