2018 - Membership - Jess Mumma
Introduction and Background:
Greetings,
My name is Jessica Mumma. I've been with OWBN for more than a decade, playing regularly in three different regions, West Coast, Mid Atlantic, and the Mid West. This gives me an interesting perspective of the org, allowing me to see what each regions unique gaming challenges are, and how they associate with the org as a whole. The understanding I have of the geography of each region goes well beyond lines on a map, and will allow me to work with games as they adopt and let go of territories, and will allow me to work well with new games trying to establish boundaries within our vast world.
Outside of the org, I currently work at Lowes, but previous to that, I spent years working Special Education. With the amount of documentation, assessment, paperwork, and tracking that working in special ed requires, I have the skillset required to track OWBN territories and membership applications. This also comes with the unique skill of pattern spotting, whichwill help as games transition through the membership process.
A few months ago, William offered a training opportunity to those wishing to run in this election to replace him, and I took him up on that offer. This has given me the chance to work under the existing membership coord and learn the ropes. This will lead to a smooth transfer of hands from one coord to another.
I am look forward to expanding how I serve the org.
Introduction and Background (Portuguese):
Administrative Experience:
My former experience as a teacher in a special needs classroom has given me a lot of experience in managing the vast amounts of data (territories and applications) that fall under the membership coord's office.
As the creating HST of Webs of Fate, I have been through the admissions process as a player, and working with William, I have been through it as a sub coord.

Personal Statement:
I'm looking forward to serving the org as the membership coord. I have a long history with the org, and in many ways, have grown a lot as a person, because of the org. OWBN is one of the few places where I feel that I can just be me. We have created this fantastic darkly beautiful, twisted harrowing world for our characters to interact and live within. I have personally created a game that is still getting it's org feet wet, and I am really looking forward to helping others have this same opportunity.
In an odd sense, the org is part of what it is to be home for me. I can go anywhere, step into the comfortable shoes of a character, sign in to a game, and know that I have common ground with the people around me. It has made my moves across the country much easier on me.
We do have trust issues with the org, and I am hoping that I can help break down some of those issues. I am not a West Coast Gamer, I am not a Mid Atlantic Gamer, I am not a Mid West Gamer. I have gamed in all of these regions. I am simply put, an org-wide gamer (Sorry Brazil, I'm working on it getting down there too! It's harder than traveling across the states!) I think that my experience playing in so many regions can help to build trust and understanding across our different regions.
Personal Statement (Portuguese):
Goals:
I am hoping (if the marketting coord is interested) to work with the marketing team to reach out to areas that don't have org games and invite them to explore the org, and possibily add to it.
Develop visual aids to help players and STs picture the different games and territories on the map. William has done an amazing job with Google Maps, but I would like to develop "at a glance" images for each region.
Continue with the amazing things William is already doing now that he's ready to step down.
