2016 - Tremere - Alex Rushing
Introduction and Background:
My name is Alex Rushing, and I am the current Tremere Coordinator for One World by Night. I began playing Vampire: the Masquerade in the early 90s, and began LARPing in 1994. I joined One World by Night in 2002 after moving to Ohio.
I have been Tremere Coordinator since 2012, during which time I have seen the Tremere move from a clan full of inactive players and bloated sheets to a much more streamlined and effective clan. 2016 is the year that I ease off on the throttle and get rid of the final proud nails that get in the way of the Tremere updating to the current OWbN environment.
Introduction and Background (Portuguese):
Meu nome é Alex Rushing e sou o atual coordenador tremere do One World by Night.

Personal Statement:
To say that 2015 was a challenge for Team Tremere would be an understatement. I put procedures in place to address concerns about response time and interactivity - some of them worked, some of them failed. I have spent the last three months reviewing what did not work, and have taken steps to correct them. For those who doubt my commitment to improved communication, I would point to my email presence since returning from my hiatus in which my twins were born: no new business has reached a two-week delay since December, and most emails were responded to within 5 days. Now that I am in full control of my time again, it is much easier to fulfill my obligations as Coordinator.
I have always held by my three-year goal for changing the culture of the Tremere. That phase is now complete - we have changed the attitude of players towards Thaumaturgy, and brought the number of active Tremere players down to a manageable level. Now we live in a world of competing sects, and a new Status Packet, and a future where the Tremere are not defined by their relationship with the Assamites. It's time to make changes to way things work ICly, and I'm ready and willing to make those changes.
Goals:
- Subcoords:
I have a shortlist of 15 applicants to take over the duties of the Subcoords that needed replacing. I have created clear guidelines for behavior and response time that I will be applying to both new and returning subcoords.
One major change will be the creation of a Gargoyle Subcoordinator. The Gargoyle presence has exploded since I relaxed their rarity, and I feel that having a Subcoord solely designated to address their questions and concerns will help fix the issues I encountered last year with Gargoyle players and STs.
- Houses:
The House Packet was written in 2010. In the past 6 years, many of the Houses have moved beyond what was written and created their own subcultures. My goal is to update the packet to reflect this organic growth and to bring the advantages and disadvantages of the Houses more in-line with how they are used.
When I first took over as Coordinator, I unified the South American and North American Houses at the request of STs and players. The last few years show that this did not work, as the language barrier and different playstyles interfered with the two branches working well together. I am going to separate out the chain of commands for the two regions but allow both North and South American players to join either or both lists. This allows those interested in international play to stay involved, but allows those who don't want to deal with cultural differences to be involved and work within the local House.
My last major overhaul is to add a new level of House membership to each House. After listing to players and STs complaints about how Houses work, I will be adding a "base" membership level that only requires Regent approval to join a House - this will give new or isolated players a chance to join Houses on a limited basis and then earn promotions through their actions.
We are 80% done with the revamped House Packet.
- Arcane Compendium:
I plan on tweaking the rarities on a few rituals and paths. Overall, the Arcane Compendium has not needed more than a few minor updates, but the custom creation rules need to be updated to reflect the changes in how OWbN handles custom content.
We are 50% done with the revamped Arcane Compendium.
- Secret Societies:
This packet has needed major updates, as it was written a decade ago and has not ever been updated. Many of the SS that existed have died off as characters died, and so I plan on using this year as a year of rebirth for many of them. I have already begun adding players to the various SS, and I am working with the players who belong to the active SS to update the packet to match what currently happens.
I am 30% done with the revamped Secret Society packet.
- Brazil:
My Brazilian staff and I have created a set of guidelines for the Brazilian PCs to address ST and player questions about promotion within the Pyramid and how to earn approval for Thaumaturgy. It is my hope by standardizing these requests, it will show that there is no favoritism between the Brazilian regions and to provide a roadmap for the players
I am committed to recruiting more players in Brazil. Right now, there are less than 30 active Tremere in the entire country. My subcoord team and I will be reaching out to the local games and seeing what we can do to increase our numbers.
Goals (Portuguese):
- Subcoords:
- Arcane Compendium:
Nós estamos com a nova versão do Arcane Compendium 50% concluída.
- Sociedades Secretas:
Eu estou com a nova versão do Secret Society packet 30% concluída.
- Brasil:
