2016 - AHC 1 - Benjamin Colbert
Introduction and Background:
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening! So, after a long reign of subcoording for various genres, I figured it was time I try to actually run for something. I had originally pondered running for AHC last year with Mr. McCrady, but wasn't sure if I would be qualified. After working with various Coords, Staffs and Events over the past year, and even stepping up to become a ST of a full Chronicle, I believe that I can handle the position.
I have been a part of OWbN since 2000 or so, mainly playing in Garou Games (Capital Rage) as well as being a narrator and storyteller. I had a brief fling with Vampire during those early years, but it wasn't meant to be at the time. Due to life changes, I took a four or so year break from LARPing from 2007 to 2011 when I got sucked back into Garou, then Sabbat and Mage. Even have Changeling. I have been lucky enough to attend many, many events since I came back to OWbN (I had no idea there were other events aside from Baneklaive and Beltane), reconnect with old friends and meet so many new faces.

Outside of our beloved hobby, I do Property Management (of Homeowner Associations) for a living, and have worked with the same company for going on 15 years. In my job, I have to research By-Laws and find ways to mediate disputes between Boards, Homeowners, and Vendors - a skill set I believe will help me in being the Assistant Head Coordinator. I have to deal with constant emergencies at work, so I have learned my limits on how much I can do in a day/week/month, and have learned to plan accordingly.

Bom dia/Boa Tarde/ Boa Noite! Então, depois de um longo reinado como subcoord de vários gêneros achei que era hora eu tento concorrer para alguma coisa. Eu tinha originalmente ponderado concorrer para AHC no ano passado com o Sr. McCrady, mas eu não tinha certeza se eu estava qualificado. Depois de trabalhar com vários Coords, Staffs e eventos durante o ano passado, e até mesmo intensificar minha vida ao me tornar um ST de um Crônica, eu acredito que posso lidar com a posição.
Tenho feito parte do OWbN desde 2000 mais ou menos, principalmente jogando em Jogos Garou (Capital Rage), bem como sendo um narrador e storyteller. Eu tive um breve romance com Vampiro durante os primeiros anos, mas não era para ser no momento. Devido a mudanças de vida, fiz uma pausa de quatro ou mais anos em jogar LARP (2007-2011) quando fui sugado de volta para Garou, então Sabbat e Mago. Mesmo também Changeling. Tive sorte o suficiente para participar de muitos, muitos eventos desde que voltei para o OWbN (eu não tinha idéia de que havia outros eventos além do Baneklaive e Beltane), reencontrei velhos amigos e conhecei muitas caras novas.

No meu trabalho eu tenho que pesquisar estatutos e encontrar maneiras de mediar disputas entre os conselheiros, os proprietários, e os vendedores - um conjunto de habilidades que eu acredito que vai me ajudar em ser o Assistant Head Coordinator. Eu tenho que lidar com situações de emergência constantes no trabalho, então eu aprendi meus limites sobre o quanto eu posso fazer em um dia / semana / mês e aprendi a me planejar adequadamente.
Administrative Experience:
As part of my job, I was a professional administrator to the President and Vice President for five years before I went full time. I am well versed in how to write business letters and am able to use a professional voice in emails, organize vast amounts of data and ensure that responses are returned to clients in an appropiate amount of time. As I manage thirteen different properties, their residents and their Boards, I have learned how to communicate with a variety of people from different backgrounds.
I am decently versed in use of Excel, Powerpoint, and Word, and have long ago learned that asking when I am not sure about something is far better than staying quiet.
Administrative Experience (Portuguese):
Como parte do meu trabalho, eu fui administrador profissional para o Presidente e Vice-Presidente por cinco anos antes de eu ir para tempo integral. Eu estou bem versado em como escrever cartas comerciais e sou capaz de usar um tom profissional em e-mails, organizar grandes quantidades de dados e garantir que as respostas são devolvidas aos clientes em uma quantidade adequada de tempo. Como eu gerencio treze diferentes propriedades, seus moradores e seus Conselhos, eu aprendi como me comunicar com uma variedade de pessoas de diferentes origens.
Eu sou decentemente versado no uso de Excel, PowerPoint e Word e há muito tempo aprendi que devo perguntar quando eu não tenho certeza sobre alguma coisa, é muito melhor do que ficar quieto.
Personal Statement:
I had many long talks with people about running for this position, including my Wife (I don't like sleeping on the couch after all). Several of my friends warned me of how difficult a Coordinator position is, but they also supported my choice. This is our hobby, something I have found memories of currently and look forward to making more. It takes a lot of hardwork to make a LARP run smoothly, let alone a network of them. To do that, we do need an organization, checks, balances, and Coordinators that work together with Storytelling Staffs and Players. As I tend to naturally be drawn towards mediation roles in Character, I hope to use the same energy and drive to help settle disputes within One World by Night. I feel that it is important that we all give back, so aside from cooking and everything else, I feel I could be of use in this office.

Eu tive muitas longas conversas com as pessoas sobre eu concorrer para esta posição, incluindo a minha esposa (afinal eu não gosto de dormir no sofá). Vários dos meus amigos me advertiram de quão difícil é uma posição de Coordenador, mas eles também apoiaram a minha escolha. Este é o nosso hobby, algo em que obtive momentos memoráveis e estou ansioso para fazer mais. Tem um monte de trabalho duro para fazer um LARP funcionar sem problemas, e é muito menos que uma rede deles. Para fazer isso precisamos de uma organização, verificações, saldos e coordenadores que trabalham em conjunto com equipes de Storytellers e jogadores. Como eu tendo a ser naturalmente atraído para papéis de mediação IC, espero usar a mesma energia e direcionamento para ajudar a resolver disputas dentro do One World by Night. Eu sinto que é importante para todos nós dar de volta, por isso, além de cozinhar e tudo mais, eu sinto que eu poderia ser útil neste escritório.
