2015 - Wraith - Holly Race

Applicant Name:
Holly Race
Applicant Email: Home Chronicle:

Introduction and Background:

My name is Holly Race. I have been playing Vampire since approximately 1995. My home chronicle at the time, Shadows of Cincinnati, was one of the first few to join One World by Night. I have been playing, with a few breaks, since. I have held multiple positions in various OWbN games.

I care very much for the Org as a whole and wish to see it grow as much as possible. I work very hard on a local scale to advertise for our games and bring in new players and I hope to keep working with the Marketing team to come up with plans that can be used on a larger scale.

In the World of Darkness, I love Vampire. However, my first love is Wraith and always has been. I played a Wraith PC in the Org for nearly 8 years in multiple Vampire Genre games. I have a firm grasp of the Wraith genre and enjoy delving deeper in to that world and learning more whenever I'm given the chance. It's never possible to know everything, so I always keep trying.

I am new to the Coord scene, though I am not new to the Org as many of you know personally. I have always put my family first, and felt a game should never come before my children. In the almost 20 years I have been playing my children have grown, and I find myself with a greater amount of time to dedicate to my personal hobbies and endeavors. After being asked by several Storytellers and Coords to put my name in for this position, I have finally decided it is time.

Administrative Experience:

I have been an AST in Shadows of Cincinnati, Columbus in Darkness and Pander's Playground. I am currently the HST for Pander's Playground. Very early on when the Org moved to the Revised rules, Wraith was left by the wayside. At that time I wrote a packet that many of the games in the area adopted for Wraiths.

I am planning Ecumenical Council with the Sabbat Team for this coming May that will be hosted by Pander's Playground in Cincinnati Ohio. I have planned several Vampire events through the years and will plan many more.

Outside of Vampire I have a degree in Theology and Event Planning, and minor courses in Marketing and Business. I am anal retentive when it comes to organization and planning, to a fault.

In this region I am considered the resident expert on Wraith and am often consulted when dealing with Wraith plot, retainers and PCs. This is when I am on a games staff or not. I have helped many games build a working construct for their players, and usually am relied on to make judgment calls when involving powers and the like with Wraiths.

Personal Statement:

I love this game, and this organization. I know what I am good at and what I'm not. I feel I'll make an excellent Wraith Coord for many reason, least of which is my love of the genre. I'm creative, personable and generally fun. This game is for the players and should always be treated as such. As an ST or Coord we all need to remember that this game is for them and we have volunteered our time to ensure they enjoy theirs.

Goals:

Recently I was able to read through the Arcanoi packet that Christian DeBats' office wrote during his time as Wraith Coord. It was something that was very necessary since Wraith was not kept up with over the years like the other genres. I think the Arcanoi packet is very well done. I do not believe it has been publicly released as of yet, but it should be.

What I would like to do is revamp a genre packet, and set some clear boundries as to how Wraiths, both PC and NPC, should be handled. The constant back and forth with Necromancers and Wraiths has never been defined. My primary goal as Wraith Coord would be to create a packet or list that will assist players and STs in dealing with the cross over with Wraiths either PC or retainers.

I would also like to assist STs in creating a Shadowlands for their game that is real and fits within their cities. The Shadowlands isn't just a place that only exists when a player decides to look across the shroud, but when a player does decide to piece that shroud they should have something waiting to be looked at. The Shadowlands is a tricky place, my desire is to create something to make easier for everyone to understand the base mechanics and flavor.

The Org currently has very few games that allow for Wraith PCs, I feel that is partly due to the confusion that surrounds the genre. Wraith has a place in most games. I want to make it possible for it to be included. Right now the primary reason for ghosts is simply as servants of Necromancers. While I feel that needs to be touched on, I don't want the importance of PCs to get pushed aside. My goals for this year would be to flesh out the rules and world for both types of Wraith.
