2014 - Ventrue - Brian Orlando
Introduction and Background:
My name is Brian Orlando, and I am OWbN’s Ventrue Coordinator. Since taking the office in November 2011, we have made many, many improvements to the resources and assets of the office and I wish to continue the positive impact my administration has had into 2014.
In 2014, I am going to be pushing my Sub-Coords to take more active roles in their regions, and I am going to be pushing my staff to be more interactive in their various segments of the genre (i.e. Directorate, Societies, on the Prince’s lists, etc). More importantly, I am going to be asking the players this coming year to start networking and working together more than ever before; strong networks should be this Clan’s advantage!
I want to be Ventrue Coord because I believe that characters with political savvy and who are strong leaders are the heart and soul of the Masquerade game, and that they should be encouraged and rewarded.
Introduction and Background (Portuguese):
Administrative Experience:
Here are some positions I hold, or have held in OWbN:
- Ventrue Coordinator since November 2011
- HST for the Tampa Chronicle for over 6 years
- CM for the Tampa Chronicle for over 5 years
- Assamite Sorcery Sub-Coord since 2010
- Sabbat Sub-Coord for Loyalists, and the South since 2010
In my personal life, I hold a Bachelors in Information Systems, work in Software Development, and like to travel. In my professional career, I am called on to develop and test solutions to fit a particular need on a daily basis. Professionalism, as well as communication skills, both written, and in public-speaking, are paramount.

Personal Statement:
Our genre documents now more closely align with the materials presented by White Wolf, and for the first time fully support both the Antitribu and Anarch sides of the Clan. I would like to move the Ventrue in 2014 towards a culture that supports each other quickly, fully, and without question (e.g. succor).
I want to do everything I can to help make playing Ventrue fun, interesting, and engaging. I have delivered on the majority of my campaign promises from last term and am ready do even more in the coming year!
Personal Statement (Portuguese):
Goals:
If re-elected, I will continue to improve the genre, encouraging Ventrue networking at events and over lists, talking to players and staff members, and actively working to figure out how to make the game better. Everything that was in my application last year, I accomplished. This year, I look forward to accomplishing the following:
1) I take the issue of response times pretty seriously and overall, issues and questions are usually resolved in a matter of days. I will be closely monitoring this in the coming year to make sure we continue to stay on top of this.
2) Older characters will be tapped to provide more leadership and presence in the Societies they are a part of. Aside from this, I would personally like to see younger Ventrue characters being added to Societies/Orders sooner. It was never my intent for Societies/Orders to be a playground for "old" characters and I will try very hard to correct this.
3) A revamp of the Directorate will be coming in 2014, to include a change to the way that Sub-Coords work and interact with. Chronicles. My plan is to have several Directorate level NPCs (Lictors, mainly) on-hand to proxy to games in order to reinforce the idea and impression that the Directorate is pervasive and all-encompassing.
4) Last year, we came out with a lot of tools for the Antitribu players that were not there previously (e.g. Societies and NPCs). This year, I will drive my Sabbat Sub-Coords (who really only came into being last year) to start talking to Sabbat STs so that Ventrue-Antitribu can start establishing a more defined global identity.
5) Since I have been Coord, I have stayed out of micromanaging the Regional Subs. This year, however, I am going to be taking much more direct-role in the managing and guiding of the regional hierarchies - mainly attempting to get PCs at the helm to re-org and revamp.
6) I will also be directly involved in portraying the various Strategoi so that I can more easily offer the players of Praetors direct leadership and direction. This will be in addition to the cadre of NPCs that are already portrayed by the Regional/Society Sub-Coords
7) I am going to push for those with Higher levels of Clan Prestige to set the bar for others to follow while adjusting the levels of Clan Prestige as characters rise and fall out of favor. This will have two effects. First, it will help us understand WHY those with high levels of Clan Prestige have those high levels and second, it will help set the bar of excellence for those with lesser levels of prestige to strive to come up to!
8) I will continue to push forward any story that helps develop Lucinde as a hunter/killer of Camarilla criminals
9) Research and Development
- Continue to add support NPCs to the Coord “toolbox” in the form of Lineage Reviews, Old-World Princes, Primogen, Regional Strategos and Praetors, Society members, and other Elders
- Push for all characters in the current list to have a detailed Wiki page entry
- Continue to integrate the known canon Antitribu and Anarch Ventrue into the listing
- Consider revamping each Society/Order to have a PC in the recruiter role
- Continue to add to the free Acknowledgement listing so people may have more tie-ins with Ventrue
