Introduction and Background:

Here’s a bit of history recap from last year’s app and year before for you all.

I have been playing One World by Night since I was the wee young age of 13 (back before STs realized how terrible an idea it was to let 13 year olds play Vampire: The Masquerade.)  My first game was East of the River, run by D Scott (former head coordinator).  Many of my friends can remember when my mom had to come pick me up from game; this is where I got my nick name ‘Short Shit’ from.  Since those early times as a young member of OWbN, I have watched this organization grow and evolve into the entity it has become today.

I was late by some standards to coming to OWbN Sabbat.  I had been a hardcore Camarilla player for pretty much my entire time in the Org.  It wasn’t until 2005 or so, that I truly discovered OWbN and Sabbat Genre.  To me, the Sabbat had always been those things we fought as members of the Camarilla.  I never knew that such a rich, deep history existed for me to play in.  The moment I first played Lords of New England Sabbat I was hooked; I read every book I could get my hands on.  I was amazed at the depth and thought that went into the material.  It was love at first sight.  Several years later, Sabbat and I got married and bought a house.  Ok, that part didn’t happen, but you catch my drift.

After several years of playing Sabbat in One World by Night, I decided that I wanted to be involved more than I already was.  I found out who the Sabbat Coordinator was, as my friend Ian was no longer the guy, and told him I was going to take his job!  That man was Porch, who laughed at this nobody kid who was very passionate about his genre and gave him a shot.  Mike “Porch” added me to his Sabbat Team and I have been involved with the major workings of OWbN Sabbat Genre ever since.

Since Ian K was re-elected as Sabbat Coordinator in the 2010 elections I have worked very closely with him as a Coordinator.  I was Ian’s number two guy.  Ian had stepped up to his old job once more and was training me to run this year.  Unfortunately, due to real life, Ian wasn’t able to finish the year out.  In August of 2010 I was made OWbN Sabbat Coordinator.  I have, since that time, managed to produce two packets; solve several pressing Sabbat Genre issues for the games of One World by Night; and started a very close working relationship with the rest of the Coordinator Teams and the games of OWbN.  I have been very lucky and honored to work with a group of people so dedicated to a job that is a volunteer position, so that others might have fun.  In addition to this, I have forged a new Team Sabbat.  While Ian worked better with a small group of people, I will always work best the way I have been taught by Porch.  I have put together an amazing team to work on the direction of Sabbat genre for the org.  If it wasn’t for them, we would not have accomplished all we have in the past three months.  If elected, I look forward to continuing to work with all of them.

Personal Statement:

Out with the old and in with the New!  This past year has seen continued growth and expansion of OWbN Sabbat.  My Team has been working harder than ever and I think that shows.  This past term as Coordinator hasn’t been about drastic changes.  Rather, we had already well established by the political and religious aspects of the genre needed to truly push it forward and make OWbN Sabbat a deep and engaging genre.

In the past year the Team created and passed through council several plots that helped push PC stories forward and create some very interesting gameplay for them.  In Brazil we saw the growth and flourishing of the Cainite Heresy as more than two dimensional villains.  In North America we saw the growth of conflicts between the factions as political rivals moved against one another.  All and all we here at Team Sabbat are very satisfied with the past year and want to continue to make sure OWbN Sabbat continues to grow and expand.

Once again I could go on and on about all the work the Team and I did.  Quite frankly it was a lot.  I have now been Sabbat Coordinator since 2010 and don’t seem myself getting burned out or having any less drive then I did when I started.  I want to see OWbN Sabbat continue its rapid growth as a genre, and it is something I am very proud of.  But enough of that stuff, whats on the plate for next year?

Well for starters the packets are done.  I mean done done.  We have updated them over the course of my past term to reflect the results in feedback we got from Players and Storytellers from their use in play.  I have no plans on making any new packets or updating any more of them save for perhaps some typos as I find them. The only exception to this is the Pander packet, which for the most part its update is very minor.  So rejoice OWbN, Sabbat Coordinator packets are done and finished!

Within the coming term the Team will be very busy with the recently passed plot proposal to council.  This is a huge thing for Sabbat genre and will require a lot of coordination and work.  Work the Team and I are willing and able to do.  It’s a plot that has been the result of over five years of PC actions and stories, and something I have been looking forward too since day one.  It is a plot that causes the Sabbat to truly have internal struggle and dynamics.  I really look forward to seeing how it plays out and think the Sabbat games of OWbN will enjoy it greatly.

This coming term is a focus on the players of OWbN Sabbat.  This is the year for them to step up and start to take the larger reigns of Sabbat genre.  We are moving towards Sabbat PCs rising up and taking more leadership positions within their sects and factions.  Having them take a far more involved and direct hand in Sabbat genre. While we won’t be seeing PC Cardinals any time soon, the PCs will have far more say in things.  Indeed, with the currently passed plot, it is all in the Sabbat PCs hands where things end up and what stories are told.

Finally, in the coming year we as always will be focused on the next Ecumenical Council.  While Ecumenical Council two is right around the corner, when that finishes we shall begin work on the third one.  As always we will provide any game to bid on and run the event with the support of Team Sabbat.  In many ways Ecumenical Council two and three will likely be deeply linked together.  Something I look forward to seeing,

It is my hope you elect me to be once again your Sabbat Coordinator.  I like to think I have done a pretty good job.  Even if you can’t agree with me all the time; I hope the results of my work and effort can be seen.  Since my time as Sabbat Coordinator I have seen the number of Sabbat games alone in the org more than double, but almost triple at this point.  I enjoy my job greatly and love working with my team.  I say it every year, we here on Team Sabbat are just that, a Team.  And we would like to continue to work for you.  As always I leave you with a quote stolen from Tony Stark, I hope you enjoy!

Adam: A famous man once said, “We create our own demons.” Who said that? What does that even mean? Doesn’t matter. I said it cause he said it.  So now, he was famous and that basically getting said by two well-known guys.  I don’t, uh…I’m gonna start again.
