2014 - Assamite - Lex Lopez
Introduction and Background:
I started in OWbN in 2004, playing in the old game Springfield, MA: City of Springs (CoS), which folded in 2008. I had started playing my first PC, an Anarch-slash-Cam Brujah by the name of Jerome Philip King. During this time, I regularly visited the game ‘Court of Storms’ (now Dark Colony: Hartford), enjoying drama and creating war stories to share with friends over drinks.
I tried my hand in Sabbat. While not actually my preferred genre, I found myself having a great time getting to play one of my favorite Clans and participating in Sect politics. It was a learning experience as I was exposed to a very different group of players than what I was used to and the politics were rather cutthroat. My heart pounded before every game and I left each night high on the adrenaline that makes game so much fun.
I later made a ghoul that became an Assamite, which was my first interaction with the owbn clan genre. It was a natural story with a number of twists and turns I had not expected. I believed myself fortunate that the concept permitted me to be able to watch the genre develop without getting too deeply immersed into it. This allowed me to watch it through more angles than I would have been able to, were I more deeply entrenched in the clan’s politics. Before ever playing an Assamite in OWbN, I played in a TT game hosted by my friend, Les. During this time I learned about the Clan through my pc and came to adore what I found. I spent a great deal of time learning the clan’s culture and history and greatly enjoyed the way that it clashed with the Camarilla. I admit that one disappointment I’ve always had is I have rarely witnessed the clash of cultures that were possible in owbn due to the Schism story.
My experience with the genre has been one filled with ups and downs. There were lots of things I liked and a number of things I didn’t like. I enjoyed seeing the Assamites struggle to adapt to a new world, but I didn’t enjoy seeing other players occasionally react poorly to the emergence of the Schism, I disliked that some players considered such an interesting shake up to the Camarilla to be bothersome ooc, rather than the clear story hook that it serves as. While the Assamites should struggle to fit into the Camarilla, they are a perfect fit for the greater story of the Camarilla in the final nights.

Personal Statement:
I’ve been a passionate fan of the genre for quite some time now and have taken a year to be shown some of the intricacies of caring for the Clan in OWBN under Brad. I’ve learned well the level of attention required to properly see to the clan ooc and ic and look forward to doing it.
Quotes:
"There comes a time, Ventrue, when the game plays the players".
— Izhim ur-Baal during the Table of Tyre, addressing Hardestadt.

Goals:
There are several things I wish to accomplish if I were to make Assamite Coordinator. They are as follows:
Response time: My intent is to put regional NPCs into a heightened level of importance and grant greater autonomy to my subcoords so that we can avoid one of the things that I have already witnessed slow us down for response time. (The need to discuss what each NPC’s response will be when the individuals who portray them already do excellent work and have my faith to do so without being micro managed.)
Genre Packet: The team is already editing and undergoing the final reviews on a packet that is intended to serve as an update to reflect that Clan’s current position and goals within the Camarilla, better define the Loyalists and Dispossessed and clarify details regarding the Unconquered. My intent is to have this propped by the middle of May.
Sorcery Packet: For the Sorcery packet I would like to see more storyteller tools added to the packet to help storytellers portray Climbing the Ladder of Heaven, something that can be at times a daunting task for a storyteller.
The Schism: Within the Camarilla, much of the rp has been to hurry up and wait. I would like the Vizier npc leadership to take a stronger role IC and become something akin to the Herald among the Lasombra AT. This is not to say that I want a heavy hand in place but to, rather, have the Schism take steps forward by having Tegyrius back PC-driven projects IC, thereby allowing the Schismatic pcs to organize themselves to a higher level and foster PC on PC interactions. (Many PCs find themselves questing for the guidance of an elder. This will allow us to reply “X is organizing this, speak with him/her.”)
The Unconquered: My intent for this faction is to allow for an increase in activity. I would like to have a dedicated Subcoord providing fast replies and whipping the faction into activity, “catching the wave” that is the Civil War.
Extremis Boon: I have already been working with the Toreador Coordinator to take steps toward ultimately concluding this plot and allowing for the interactions between the two clan to move forward in new and exciting ways. During this year, the political struggle will begin to move into an end game and while I cannot promise a Justicar or a scripted ending (I would not if I could), I can promise forward momentum, clear objectives and steps toward the ultimate conclusion of the Schism story.
