Custom Blood Magic: Ritual
Some chronicles allow for their players to develop customized powers for their characters. The following is a compilation of player created custom content in OWBN. At this time, custom content that is created and/or used by vampire PC's is required to be listed.
Caveat Emptor (Basic Hermetic Ritual)
It is commonly known that Tremere are not to be trusted, and if the existence of this ritual ever got out, it would only reinforce this belief. When cast, this ritual causes a rush of tangible magical energy to flow over the caster. The only lasting effect of this ritual is that the subject will register as under magical enchantment to powers that sense such effects.
The true power of this ritual comes when used in conjunction with Inscription. The instructions for this simple ritual are easily couched within Inscriptions, causing it to appear as a ritual other than itself to the uninformed observer. Anyone using the inscription who is personally versed in the ritual allegedly inscribed will easily notice the differences and the deception. This particular deception relies entirely upon the subjects lack of knowledge of blood magic.
At storyteller discretion, this ritual may also be used to permanently enchant an object so that it appears enchanted to powers that would detect such, though of course without providing any magical benefit.
Level: Basic
Components:
One bouquet per suitor required to bring Persephone: fresh bouquet (dozen flowers) of white lilies grown in Italian soil and $500 USD of Mother of Pearls, this represents a single very nice pearl to a necklace’s worth.
Mechanics:
Suitors trained in the Necromantic arts host an elaborate dinner and courting experience in the hope of attracting St. Persephone, cousin and Honored Dead, to commune with the participants. A minimum of 2 places must be set for one suitor (Max 7 suitors) and Persephone herself. On her plate will be piled the flowers and Mother of Pearls. If the Ritual is a success her plate’s contents disappear to the shadowland side for her, and returned to her plate are a number of Coins/Persephone’s Favor (Pictured below). These coins must be kept upon the person for the evening of the ritual. If the coin is given/taken away from the suitor the coin decays to ashes and floats away to nothingness.
Gain +2 traits on necromantic magic, except those targeting Ghosts, Spectres or Spirits of the Shadowlands for the remainder of the night. If several necromancers perform the ritual together, they may freely trade willpower points between one another for the rest of the night. During this time, each participant may experience the tactile sensations of another by concentrating for a few seconds and spending a willpower, regardless of the distance. No more than seven suitors can perform this ritual and all suitors must know this ritual to be a suitor.
Wisdom is priceless; greed is deadly. Nowhere is this as apparent as in the story of Ceridwen's Cauldron. True to the common 'myth,' the lorekeepers of House ab Flaidd long ago created the ritual to bestow wisdom upon those with the will to control themselves...and death to those who can't.
System: The caster must first gather the spell components and combine them into an iron cauldron, making an Herbalism test (difficulty 13) to mix the ingredients properly. To represent the sacrifice needed to gain wisdom quickly the caster must then sacrifice one Permanent Willpower Trait, which cannot be replaced while the ritual and its benefits are active. From the moment the ingredients are mixed, the cauldron must maintain both level heat and even stirring from new moon to new moon (one month, starting in the dark of the new moon). Note: Acolytes can and often are used to assist with the stirring and heating process during daytime hours, however utilizing any other caster or any mechanical equipment to assist with the maintenance of the potion will cause the ritual to fail. Once complete, the potion yields 1 viable dose (i.e., 3 drops) of "liquid wisdom". Consuming all three drops provide the imbiber with instant wisdom: for the next 3 months and up to 3 times per story, he/she may choose to expend a Mental Trait to retest any non-physical Ability test. The imbiber may access this benefit up to three times per story for three months, at which point the effect of the ritual fades and the caster may begin brewing another batch. Consuming more of the potion, beyond the 3 viable drops, is deadly to mortals and will induce immediate torpor in vampires (lasting 3 months if the victim is not forcefully roused from torpor). Such is the price for fabricated wisdom. Only one imbiber may benefit - or suffer - from the effects of the potion, and the caster may not brew another batch until the previous batch has run its course.
Chairs of Water
This 15 minute ritual allows the caster to create more substantial and detailed chains of water when employing Neptune's Might. Instead of chains of water used to bind persons, the caster can now create objects with water. Chairs and tables are the most common uses for this power. Those who use these
objects mysteriously do not get wet even while lying on a couch of water. The objects created cannot be moved, and cannot be used to prevent passage through an area. They cannot be used in combat at all. They last until the creator leaves the area, or until he wills them away.
System: The ritual consists of the caster anointing himself with water while chanting for fifteen minutes. The power lasts for the rest of the night. Blood expenditures are still required to create the objects. Here are some sample costs for common objects. Stool or chair ‐ one blood trait; card table ‐ two blood traits; large table or sofa ‐ three blood traits.

Basic Sielanic Thaumaturgical ritual
- Requires Path of the World's Blood and Become one with the Land
The natural world has fonts of magical power, ley lines and nodes that are there for those who are in tune with the natural world. Channel the Earth allows a caster to channel it and replenish their energies with their ties to the land to fuel their magic.
System:
Allows the expenditure of Hearth Wisdom as an equivalent level of Herd. This may generally be done once per game or downtime action, and must be done in a natural setting or a font of spiritual or magical power, such as a node. Places of particular power may have additional or unforeseen effects.
It can also be used where a Shepherd has attuned herself to the land with the Sielanic ritual Become One with the Land.
