I, Beth C, in my Duties as Assamite Coordinator of One World by Night propose the following packet for the Assamite Genre.
3.C.iii.Genre Coordinators must pass before Council any plot, R&U bylaw revision, R&U named characters, Coordinator-NPC Character Resurrections, territory requests, in character enforced policy, or in character binding edict they wish to use which they can reasonably expect to affect multiple chronicles and these proposals need not be seconded, but go immediately into discussion.
—Packet—
—Reasoning—
This is the packet for how the OWbN Assamite Schism will function going forward and will be placed into the OWbN Assamite genre packet once that has finished its own updates. We needed to get this up sooner to help the gears of OWbN Assamite genre moving.

New York City, NY - USA, Kings of New York | For | This packet returns the clan BACK to the clanbook and not clan Tremere. This system works for the Brujah, Malkavians, Ventrue, Toreador, and Nosferatu. I don't see why this is a bad idea. Additionally, it provides a much a needed conflict resolution system. The current Schism structure does not work and has been failing for years. All it does it create groups of players who wont work with each other. We need to return to basics, not complex made up systems that have no backing in a book and alienate new players. |

Mossoro, RN - Brazil, Mossoro by Night | Against | New Packet represents a break from the core values that define the identity of Clan Assamite, as established in the Clanbook. First and foremost, there is the abandonment of the Laws of Haqim. While these laws have always been a fundamental pillar in maintaining the clan's autonomy, ethics, and tradition, the New Packet has relegated them to a secondary role, subordinating them to the rules of the Camarilla. This shift compromises the clan’s uniqueness, essence, and historical legacy.
Secondly, the rank system presented in the New Packet lacks practical functionality. Although the titles still exist, they have become mere names without real power—unable to ensure the hierarchy and respect necessary for maintaining internal order. Unlike what is proposed in the Clanbook, where ranks are essential tools for maintaining the balance of power, the current rank system needs to be completely overhauled. We must ensure that higher-ranking members can assert their authority and lead others, providing them with the proper tools to do so. Otherwise, it would be better to abolish the system altogether.
Lastly, there is the marginalization of the traditional Dur An Ki teachings. In the past, access to this knowledge was restricted to sorcerers or members who went through a rigorous process of ascension, ensuring that the lore was preserved with proper reverence. In the New Packet, that barrier has been removed, allowing any member to learn Dur An Ki—thus trivializing and devaluing a sacred tradition and reducing it to something ordinary and meaningless.
In summary, the New Packet completely distorts the principles of Clan Assamite, promoting a transformation that distances it from its historical and cultural roots. By abandoning the Laws of Haqim, maintaining ranks without practical use, and trivializing the teachings of Dur An Ki, the document risks turning the clan into a In the absence of better words to choose from generic group of Arab vampires — losing all the richness and uniqueness that once made it so respected, and which players seek when choosing to play an Assamite. It is incomprehensible that even though it is a story that has evolved within the OWBN project, it deviates in this way from the original as proposed by the packet This comment has been revised 1 time. This distort too much the Assamite Genre described in the Assamite Clanbook, and only creates an option for people that wants to play with the powers of clan Assamite, but don't want to roleplay the clan Assamite. This is a step forward to making that happen and we support that. While we have some concerns about some things, we also see the need to try stuff and see how the ideas shake out. |
