This proposal is meant to provide a mandate for the HC to prepare a proposal to make OWBN a legal entity or to silence the question. It does not alter any bylaws, but empowers the HC (or her designate) to prepare such papers on behalf of OWBN and submit them to Council.
Proposed that OWBN should become a non-profit organization or some other form of legal entity for tax purposes, so that OWBN has a valid tax id number, can legally be assigned property, sign contracts, etc.
The implementation of this will be up to the HC and/or their assigned persons (the financial coordinator is recommended). The HC shall investigate the various options and jurisdictions for becoming a legal entity. The HC shall then prepare a proposal to submit to Council of one of those options. The HC shall simultaneously prepare a statement of the legal consequences and benefits of that proposal to be submitted to Council along with the proposal. This must be completed within six months, though the sooner the better.

Besides, as forbeing sued, Chronicles can simply have all players sign a waiver before playing that states that they cannot and will not sue OWBN or the Chronicle for any damages that occur as a result of playing the game. Problem solved. I know some Chronicles already do this, and they can provide the template or information on writing such a waiver for the rest of OWBN that doesn't currently do this. |
