Coordinator Position Applied For: Assistant Head Coordinator 2
Applicant Name: Larry the Bruce
Applicant Email: stauglarry@gmail.com
Applicant Home Chronicle: Gainesville: the New Confederacy

Introduction/Background:
Greetings! My name is Larry Bruce and I would like the opportunity to run for AHC2. I have been playing in OWbN since 2002 when I joined the Gainesville, Mysteries in Darkness Chronicle. Prior to that, err...mainly 'cause I'm old, I've played RPGs for more than 25ish years. I've been on Council and the ST lists for years and I play Erkan Mahir, the Dancing CoH (I'm the guy in the Fez) - and I usually make it a habit of travelling around the country at least 2-3 times a year to visit other games. When I'm not pretending I'm a wicked-evil vampire, I have a coffee/wine-bar/music-venue that I run where we celebrate empiricism and science (and the weird)! I have a very extensive background in administrative procedures and protocols and I would like the opportunity of serving OWbN in a more administrative role.

Administrative Experience:
Inside the OWbN organization, once I took a role more than just a player, I created and shepherded the St. Augustine Chronicle into the organization in 2004. Since that time I've acted as either Head Story Teller, Story Teller, or Council Member for that chronicle. I've also filled the role as a Sub-coordinator for both the Assamite and Anarch Coord Offices. As a Council Member, I believe I've demonstrated a certain quality of level-headedness and maturity that is required for communicating during disputes. I've also developed the uncanny LARPER mutant ability to recognize when I'm wrong on issues if a reasonable and sound position is put forth.

Outside of OWbN, I've acted as an analyst team leader for the military. I've also held the position of an internal auditor for a large corporation, which meant it was incumbent upon me to master a large number of rules, regulations, and procedures in order to understand the how's and why's of problems and offer suggestions that were valid as well as palatable to people who didn't like being audited. Currently, I run my own business, which means I manage a staff and more challengingly... I have to book and deal with freak'n musicians... and their riders.... and self-important mega-egos.

Goals:
My primary goal is to help insure the administrative side of the organization runs smoothly and seamlessly. It is my hope to assist in providing a non-antagonistic and helpful processing of problems that may arise between various chronicles and the By-Laws. Under that primary goal, not to beat a dead horse, but the website still needs work, the role of the Camarilla Coordinator still needs work. I also believe some of the other duties of the more 'administrative' coords should be reviewed with the understanding that our organization has grown to a very large size and the tools need to administer a larger organization weren't provided (the recent R/U position, as an example). And... the by-laws always need constant and timely updates :)

Personal Statement:
Throughout my professional career, I've held jobs that required a sense of personal detachment and objective information gathering and decision making. I would like to utilize these skills in the Organization. I also believe that the AHC role is primarily an administrative role and has no place in genre and I intend on following that belief. If I am elected AHC, I promise to provide an unbiased and fair approach to any and all issues that are brought to the Exec Team.

Coordinator Position Applied For: Assistant Head Coordinator
Applicant Name: Robert F. Crosby II
Applicant Email: rcrosby2@gmail.com
Applicant Home Chronicle: Caught in the Eternal Twilight, Edwardsville, IL

Introduction/Background:

Greetings and salutations everyone, my name is Robert F. Crosby II and I am currently running for the recently opened position of Assistant Head Coordinator for the rest of 2010. I have been playing in the shared universe of One World by Night since my sojourn to Chicago in the late 1990s. Most folks will know me as the player of the Brujah Saul/ Archon Good, whom I began in 2000. I have also been a Storyteller and Council Member for more than a decade at this point.

In the really real world, I am the Project Director for the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area and live in Springfield, IL.

I like to consider myself level-headed and fair in the execution of all duties, real or hobby and am highly proficient at multi-tasking. I also have immeasurable experience with state and federal bureaucracies, so this position should be relatively easy by comparison. However, from the amount of time put into this hobby daily by all of the players and staffs in OWbN, I regard it as a very important task and one that I would like to perform to the best of my ability.

Administrative Experience:

On the local level, I have been active in OWbN, as was mentioned earlier, for more than a decade and have been a Storyteller and Council Member for two OWbN games as well as assist three games with entering the organization. Conflict resolution, plot development, hot-heads and cool-heads…I have seen it all and yet I remain.

On a global level, I have traveled throughout the Midwest of the United States and have made appearances on both the East and West Coasts throughout the years, not just playing, but developing a rewarding set of friendships that continue to this day. I have assisted the Brujah Coordinator’s Office in the development of the Resource Guide, a non-binding packet and am currently a sub coordinator for the same. Most other games, Coordinators, and Storytellers I have dealt with through the years have worked well with me to provide the highest level of game available.

In my real life experience, I am a professional historian for the State of Illinois and the NPS. I encounter problems both ephemeral and actual on a daily basis and am forced to find creative solutions to many difficult problems, both from a purely administrative standpoint and from the perspective of an historian, overseeing countless historic sites, landmarks, and the like. Oh…and I am in charge of a 42 county National Heritage Area, which includes every historic site, project, etc. related to Abraham Lincoln…so administrating is what I do most days.

Goals:

The Assistant Head Coordinator should work closely with the Head Coordinator and the other Assistant Head in order to most efficiently and peacefully resolve outstanding issues that are brought before the Executive Team. After all, we all recognize that their primary responsibility is resolving disputes as they arise between players, Storytellers, Council Members, Coordinators and the like, after they have failed to have been resolved at a local level. By the time it reaches this level of appeal for resolution, it is almost assured that the situation is heated and all parties have barricaded themselves in for the long haul of argument. In instances like this, it is necessary to have a cool head and an eye towards peaceful and agreeable mediation.

There are several other issues I would like to see addressed, but will do so mainly from behind the scenes, as an AHC should. This list is, by no means, exhaustive or indicative of a war-cry. My primary function is still, of course, mediation of disputes and assistance to the Head Coordinator.

1. The website and server. Still not resolved.
2. Geographic areas of games.
3. Lists of NPCs, Princes, etc.
4. The ultimate role of the Camarilla Coordinator.
5. Streamlining the inane R&U list.
6. Finding out why Coordinators, Players, Storytellers and Council Members feel the need to step down or even just step back from participation in the overall organization at an alarming rate.

Personal Statement:

I’m not going to sit here and write that I have magical solutions for the problems that plague us, or have a mystical pill that will make everything better, but as a CM and ST who cares deeply for so many in this organization and for the friendships and memories this org has generated, I feel I should obligate myself to trying to help with solutions.

I guess what I’m saying is…rather than experience continued frustration at what this organization has become over the years or rail against the invisible forces that somehow made it this way…I should just buckle down and put a couple bucks where my mouth is.

Oh…Lincoln rules!

QUOTES:

"Robert is like pork fat...he makes everything better! Seriously, he's got a level head and a broad understanding of White Wolf and OWBN, both of which are key to the AHC2 job. It's hard to imagine a better choice."

--Erik, Anarch Coordinator

“Robert is OCD, and a jerk. He wants things to be fair and ‘make sense,’ he is organized to a fault, and I think he will do really well with this position.”

--Kayti, Toreador Coordinator

"Robert approaches situation with a level head and always seems to know the answer. He has a firm grasp on the rules and can apply them to situations while still keeping in mind the real life twist that is often lacking in disputes. He relates to people well and is easy to get a hold of."

--Talia, Admissions Coordinator

"Robert is the last thing I think about when I go to sleep and the first thing on my mind when I wake. I live every moment wondering what Robert would say about my choices. Having him as AHC2 will finally bring my life to a level of fulfillment I could not have otherwise obtained. Please, for the children's sake, let Robert Crosby into your life as the AHC2."

--Jeff, Brujah Coordinator

"Robert Crosby, in the time I have known him, has proven himself to be someone who cares about individuals as well as the whole of the organization. I have no doubt that, if he were to win this election, he would seek to help balance those often conflicting forces."

Joe, Tremere Coordinator

"Robert Crosby is detail oriented, diplomatic, and capable at doing this job. I support his ability to do what I used to 110%. J Robert is also not a robot."
