Deputies Emmanuel Hernandez and Richard Porter were killed in the line of duty late last evening. The officers were manning a road block in Rancho Murieta at the time. The Sacramento Sheriff's department issued a statement mourning the loss of the two deputies, but refused to comment on the particulars of the event citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
