Introduction and Background:

My name is Alex, and I am a roleplaying junkie. I could bore you with the details, but I’ll hit the highlights: I started roleplaying in 1983, I started LARPing in 1995, I joined the CFC in 1999, and I joined OWbN in 2002. I’ve seen it all, from independent games to D&D to Shadowrun, to working for Paizo as a convention monkey. I am currently acting as Interim Tremere Coordinator after taking over for Joe Long. I have learned more about how this organization works in the last few months than I thought possible, and it excites me to think about helping the players in OWbN tell their stories for another year. Clan Tremere is a wicked beast in OWbN. It’s a difficult task of balancing an incredibly detailed hierarchy with the desires of the players. Combine that with working with the Storytellers of OWbN to help tell those stories and add in the daunting task of overseeing the various Houses, Secret Societies, coteries, chains of command, and overseeing the yearly Grand Tribunal and you have a job that requires dedication, discretion, and delegation. I believe that I can provide all of those things.

Personal Statement:

I love the Tremere, even though we are our own worst enemies. I have played one for over six years, through good Regents and bad, and I know how difficult it is to sometimes find the joy in portraying the original PC antagonists of the Camarilla. My message is simple: You are the PCs. The game revolves around you. I am not writing global plot or engaging in NPC theater to make myself feel important; I am here to provide direction from the Clan elders. Take risks. If you make mistakes, I am your Clan Disadvantage. If you succeed, I am your Clan Advantage. Be awesome, be sinister, and don’t get caught.

Goals:

My time as Interim Coordinator has been short, bloody, and full of email. In that time, I resolved outstanding concerns with the Sabbat Coordinator, the Demon Coordinator, the Malkavian Coordinator, and the Brujah Coordinator. I worked with a dozen chronicles to finalize approvals on PCs and NPCs and answer genre questions. I took steps to make sure the Tremere involvement in the Year of Fire, which has purposefully been minimal, was brought to a close with a minimum of fuss and drama. I worked to bring the Salubri players their own Coordinator. it’s been a busy few months! My goals for the next term are simple: continue to open lines of communication with the Tremere players, the Storytellers, and the other Coordinators so that we can work together more effectively. I am revamping our outdated approval system to make it easier for the players to get responses for their requests by utilizing Googledocs and forms to streamline the process. I have already begun the process of updating our long-defunct website and the Web Coordinator and I have several ideas as to how to best utilize it. I have several non-binding packets I am issuing: guidelines for chantries (both the social aspect and defensive aspect), a guide for tribunals, a ST resource guide, and a new Tremere player packet. The House Packet will be updated to clarify changes in several of the Houses and the Arcane Compendium will be updated to include clearer definitions of rarities for House membership and for House-specific rituals.I am overhauling the Subcoordinators to ensure timely response and more open communication; my Subcoordinators will be made aware of my expectations and if they cannot meet them, they will be replaced. I intend on continuing to dialogue with the Sabbat Coordinator regarding Thaumaturgy in the Sabbat and the Tremere Antitribu. I will continue to push for regional Tribunals so that players who are unable to attend our yearly Grand Tribunal do not feel ignored; my region was the only region in North America this year to have one, and I think it helps bring the various games under a Lord together more fully if they have smaller events to work towards. I have already begun work on a revamping of the Houses (with particular attention paid to Horned Society, Praesidium, Trismegistus, and Validus). Finally: Brazil. Clan Tremere has two major chains of command in OWbN, North America and South America. I have worked to integrate the players on both sides of the Equator over the last year and plan to continue to do so. My goals for Brazil include increasing the number of Subcoordinators located there and to combine the Houses and Secret Societies into one organized whole. My subcoordinator in Brazil and I have worked to bridge the gap between the two countries, and I am confident that we will see this project finished soon. Hopefully, I’ll be able to complete those tasks before this time next year.
